We spent 2 unforgettable days at this truly remarkable property! It's off the beaten track along the Rangitikei River. Our hosts, Steve and Trudi, couldn't have made us feel more welcome. We stayed in the Treehouse which was comfortably furnished and took advantage of the magnificent view of the Rangitikei. We had a full kitchen and use of laundry facilities.... More

A remote place to relax and enjoy a great river and scenery. Although it is stated as being a Fishaway Lodge it is a great place to just relax and walk and enjoy the Rangitikei river. We really enjoyed the trip down the river, very safe and amazing scenery. For overseas visitors this is a great place to visit. Its... More

Myself and another Aussie mate recently spent 10 days at Tarata and, having spent 15 years travelling to New Zealand for fly fishing holidays, can confidently say that this was the best overall hospitality we have both experienced. Steve and Trudi (and the girls) are fantastic hosts and their property at Tarata is a credit to 20 years of hard... More

I wanted a farm adventure for the children and found so much more. It's a little bit of a trek off the beaten track, but so very worth it. We stayed in the Treehouse with balcony and spa overlooking the river - such a stunning scene. House had everything we needed, and was very clean and welcoming. But the highlights... More

For fantastic fly fishing with a superb guide and remarkable scenery in a remote location this is absolutely world class. In 50 years of fly fishing in some of worlds best places this is hard to beat. Excellent accommodation and scenic rafting for non fisher companion. Hot tub with a glass of wine and mind boggling scenery at end of... More

We came here as a group of Aussie fly fishers on the recommendation of one of our club members and the experience of the rafting trip far exceeded our expectations. From the outset we were warmly and enthusiastically greeted by Steve and after Trudi arranged out licences we boarded the raft. Steve certainly knows and values this world class trout... More

My husband and I recently spent a weekend at Tarata with our son and his partner. The whole experience was great right from the get go. Trudy and Steve were amazing hosts and the treehouse accommodation was perfect. The fridge was stocked with breakfast supplies from juice through to yoghurt, cereals and fresh fruit, all at no extra cost. If... More

This one of those hidden gems in the North Island if New Zealand. Stunning scenery from a cosy retreat with a lot of detail and care put in it (turntable with a lot if oldies rock classics included!!) The experience of enjoying the private hot tub outdoors in the middle of the nature was quite unique. Very friendly owners as... More

From the perspective of a keen (read fanatical) fly angler Tarata is heaven on earth. Not only is the accommodation very comfortable and well appointed, but to have a world class trout fishery a stones-throw from the jacuzzi is almost too much! I highly recommend an accommodation and guided fishing package and even if you arent an angler Tarata sums... More
