I stayed here with my two young children. Upon arrival, the host showed us to our unit, brought me a complimentary drink and chips for the children and made sure everything was ok. When we checked out in the morning, he supplied us with more snacks for the road, free of charge. Very friendly, very helpful and I would definitely... More

The owners bent over backwards to meet my accommodation requirements, with many emails to and fro the week prior to my arrival. My friend and I were given a warm welcome, complete with free glass of wine. The owner even bothered to come to our unit to close the curtains and turn on the electric blankets and heater. Can't speak... More

We have been staying at the Taihape for years, we always get a warm welcome. We quite often travel with our work trailer and there is always room to park it. The owners try and accommodate our requests. Oh and I forgot to say anyone that loves roses. There are the most amazing roses in bloom during their flowering season.

I chanced upon this great little motel en route to Auckland. What a little gem, basic but homely and very comfortable ... and at an excellent price. The kitchen had everything you might need and the motel office even stocked a supply of DVD's and books. The owners were great, and to cap it all supplied a complimentary beer and... More

We stayed for 1 night in May in this hotel, and was amazed to find the one greek man in Taihape originally moved over from Melbourne, Australia. His hospitality and helpfulness was fabulous. He even turned on the electric blankets on our beds for us!! Suggested where we could find a nice meal and nothing was too much trouble.

This is one place where the owner seems prepared to go the extra mile, whether it is keeping a group of friends in nearby rooms or making sure the solo traveller has a few DVDs for the evening. The free beer and hippies is always a nice treat too! The decor might be out of the 80s but everything is... More

Excellent value for an overnight stop, somewhere to sleep and not much else. Extremely clean, warm and comfortable basic motel accommodation. Complimentary beers & Chips was a nice surprise! Great nights sleep, thanks.

If you look at this motel as a place in an 80's time warp, it rates as excellent. The owner gives out packets of chippies, and beer if you want it. In the unit are cornflakes, bread for toast, butter and jam. The bed is one of the most comfortable ever. I snuggled down under a duvet, blankets, eiderdown -... More

A long drive and a need for a good nights rest before heading on resulted in the search for somewhere to lay our heads. Signage in Taihape took us to a local Motel which proved to be a simple but comfortable place to spend the night. The room allocated provided adequate, simple and clean accomodation at a very reasonable price... More

Anzac weekend, stayed Fri night .Given a beer and chippies on arrival, unexpected and the Dompost, host was very convivial, laid back and rather humorous. Lovely roses still in flower around the complex. Was just a short walk to the dawn parade, then a short drive up the the services cemetery to pay tribute to whānau members who served in both... More
