You maybe would not want to stay in Taihape for your summer holidays but if you're passing through on the way to or from the ferry then this place is definitely worth checking out if its value for money you're looking for. The rooms are clean, well equipped and comfortable with a level of service that can only be described... More

This place has the potential to be an average, run-of-the-mill motel. What makes it stand out is the service. We turned up after 9pm without a booking. The host was incredibly accomodating! He offered us a complementary wine or beer on arrival, bought milk to our room, turned on the heaters and electric blankets, gave us a wifi password. The... More

It is Taihape but many higher priced and higher ranked motels and hotels could learn from the team a Taihape Motel. Its not 5 star but it is clean, tidy, comfortable, value for money, but most of all the service is fantastic. We were impressed and will not hesitate to stay again. The local dining also exceeded our expectations.

Taihape is a good stopping place between Auckland and Wellington for a Cook Strait ferry crossing next afternoon. This motel was comfortable and the bed was really cosy with a good supply of additional warm fleecy blankets if cold. We had a great sleep after being on the road since early morning. The lush roses throughout the complex have incredible... More

Spent 2 nights here, on our way to Ski fields and back to the lower north island. We will be out most of the day so would only need a place to have a restful sleep and don't want to spend too much for an accommodation. This place did not let us down. It is neat, tidy and clean, and... More

We stayed at this motel on our way down to the South Island. The friends we were with have always stayed here and had told us a lot about the lovely owner. Upon arrival we were greeted with beer and chips and a lot of lively chatter. The owner has run this Motel for a number of years which is... More

Wasn't expecting much, But was blown away at the how friendly the owners were. Offered the legendary beer and crisps when we arrived. exceedingly comfortable rooms. A real steal for the price. altho I have no future plans... More

Have recently spent 2 nights at Taihape Motel one on way north & one on the way back. Clean, tidy, beautiful roses everywhere. Mine host was great. Nothing too much bother. Very reasonably priced. Puts a lot of more expensive Motels to shame. Two comfy armchairs, just great. Would recommend to anyone. Very comfy king bed.. Thanks Heather & Nev... More

We are three singles travelling through New Zealand and booking most of our accommodation a couple of nights ahead through internet research. We lucked out every night, but were doubtful about Taihape when people we were chatting with on the ferry from Picton to Wellington questioned our reasons for staying there. To us it was just a place to spend... More

We stayed overnight on New Years Eve 2013-14 on our way to Wellington. It was the perfect spot to break up our trip. Very friendly hosts, great range of complimentary DVD's to watch, clean and tidy unit despite the original older decor. Pleasantly surprised that the children's beds could be closed off from the rest of the unit - great... More
