We wrote a review for the Old Rectory a couple of years back and have been back at least once a year ever since. So, just to update on last time - the place is still truly wonderful and definitely on our list of annual weekends away. David and Christine remain the marvellously warm and welcoming hosts and Linda still... More

I was looking for a romantic getaway and this place turned out to be the perfect spot. Our room was spacious and comfortable with ensuite shower and a view over the side garden of the rectory - good for spotting the birds on the bird table, helped by the thoughtful provision of a bird ID book and a pair of... On a cycling holiday in Northumbria we booked up in advance for one night. That was a mistake, could have stayed much longer so beautiful and welcoming was the house and its surroundings. The rooms were clean and full of character and the hospitality firts class. Breakfast next morning was just amazing, fresh and cook ed to perfection with a... More

Greeted by Christine with the kettle on and some divine cake... Such a beautiful old house. Oozing with character. However an odd very apt mod con. They think of absolutely everything here! Even a torch in each room incase of a power cut or to guide back from the village after dark. Great staff. Great place.

We spent some wonderful days in the Old Rectory. Our room and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable and as the other parts of the house well maintained and clean. The breakfast was delicious. The hosts are very friendly and spared no efford to help us in every way. It is an ideal location to start exploring the coast and... More

This was a great B & B with very spacious rooms and everything we could possibly need. There was a very extensive menu for breakfast - served at one large table with the other guests. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and keen to know how we had spent our time in the area.

After exploring nearby Alnwick Castle with its beautiful gardens and Harry Potter connotations we drove to The Old Rectory in its idyllic setting arriving 20minutes later than the 4.30 - 5.30pm stipulated in the email booking! Admittedly we had not confirmed our arrival time, but we were stunned to be told off like schoolchildren by a very irate Christine who... More

The Old Rectory is in an idyllic location surrounded by beauty. It is close to: Craster and its stunning coastline, Alnwick Castle, and Earl Grey's estate with its gorgeous gardens. Everyone at the Old Rectory was lovely.

We booked into this b&b almost by mistake - we had wanted to stay in Alnwick, but I think the location of the Old Rectory was a real treat and meant we saw far more of Northumberland than we would otherwise have done. It is peacefully located and has wonderful views, some over the sea. David and Christine are very... More
