I normally stay at another site in Northumberland but they couldn't fit me in, so decided to try Proctor Stead. On arrival I went into the office and paid the remainder of the balance, the lady was very friendly and asked me to wait in the car for her husband to return to show me to the pitch. We waited... Our journey here started near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. We had an Ordnance Survey map with Dunstanburgh Castle on. Proctor's Stead was the first campsite on the map, and first site we tried this evening. We were shown to our pitch. No hook up so in the middle. Facilities a little old, but clean. Only 10p for a shower. I had... More

The club site was fully booked so we found this site in the back of the club book, Not sure what we would find, very pleasantly surprised, lovely surroundings, well maintained, tidy and clean. Toilets a bit old fashioned but cleaned about 6.30am! no queues, lots of room and lots of hot water..Beautiful area to visit, beaches,, villages, all great. Glad... More

We recently booked two nights at Proctor's Stead expecting to move on. However we found the site to be quiet, well run and friendly. We extended our stay by four days as we found it to be an excellent base for exploring an area that we had never been to before. The Cottage pub was close and had excellent wifi-... More

Where to start. Showers: These are charged at 10p, and a lot of the time the old and rusty coin boxes gobble up the money without working. I am of the opinion that if you are paying good money for a site, the showers should be included. The shower curtains are a disgrace and the mop to clean up after... More

Well it should be, its been run by Mr and Mrs Davidson for at least 25 yrs! Always neat and tidy the site has an old fashioned style that does not detract from the experience in any way. Showers work with a 10p and can be as hot as you like. Good cycling and walking direct from the site.

I cant remember how I found out about this campsite, but its proximity to Craster was definitely a perk. The campsite is well run, the showers are excellent. (I am genuinely surprised that other people referred to the showers as 'basic'. These weren't basic in my opinion!) You get a private cubicle with a seat and hooks to keep your... More

We selected this site after reading other reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. It is well maintained, the toilet facilities spotless and plenty of room for camping. We had electric hook up, useful as the temperature dropped at night. The Cottage Inn has good food with a choice of small or large portions, goodness knows how much you get... More

Stayed for a week in our caravan, mother and father in law next door in their caravan. Site basic but very clean and peaceful. Very enjoyable. Dog friendly site very close to the coast and very easy access to many tourist attractions.
