We heard about the Ecolodge from friends who had visited and loved it, and we were not disappointed. The setting is amazing, with koalas and kangaroos in abundance, and a fascinating late afternoon walk with Shayne through the woodland. After supper, he introduced us to the nocturnal Sugar Gliders and Potoroo, and we were lucky enough to see a Tawny... More

We only went for one night wish we had gone for two, the days we were there is was really wet and we expected to not be able to do the nature walk, we did and loved it, the guys that run Great Ocean and the whole ethos behind it is what we should all strive to undertake an ounce... More

With such perfect hosts of Lizzie and Shayne, a two night stayover at the Great Ocean Road Ecolodge enables not only an opportunity to visit some particularly delightful ecotourism experiences but also an unique opportunity to observe, and by staying at the award winning 'Eco-lodge', contribute to quality wildlife conservation of several iconic species - the Koala and the spectacular... I found the Eco-lodge as I was looking around on Google maps. Once I read about it, I had to stay, even though it was a splurge for us. It more than met my high expectations. It is about half way down the Cape Otway lighthouse road from the Great Ocean Road in an open area full of kangaroos and... More

This is a small lodge off the beaten track. Its isolated location makes it unique. The wildlife in the area abounds. Koalas, kangaroos, walabys are everywhere. The Ecolodge is directly involved in wildlife protection. The lodge is ecofriendly. Breakfast and dinner was excellent.

Nature does walk by just through the dining room window doesn't it! Often it flies, hops and waddles by too! We're so pleased you enjoyed your time at the Great Ocean Ecolodge - your stay here helps ensure that nature continues walking by. More

The rooms are pretty small, especially the beds, however, the overall experience is a wonderful one: walking through the forest with the guide to see koalas and roos, visiting the sugar gliders and quolls towards evening, where else would you be able to see those animals so close up? The food is excellent, esp. breakfasts, we thouroughly enjoyed those 2... More

Dear Karen, We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your time here. You're right - having no television reception is special, it really does mean our guests can catch up with themselves, and with one another. And why would anyone want to watch TV when there's the drama of nature unfolding all around?! We hope you enjoyed the... More

We arrived at the ecolodge after a long days walk and eerie shown to our rooms and given chocolate cake and afternoon tea. The rooms were big and comfortable and we loved looking out of the windows at all the kangaroos . The meals were superb, and it was great talking to Shane. The visit to the sugar gliders and... More

We have just completed the 100K GOW over 4 days, with our first night accommodation at Eco Lodge. Food and service was second to none. We found the staff extremely helpful and courteous and only to eager to please. To sit back at the end of the day and watch the kangaroos and koalas was a real treat, together with... More

Dear Roger, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your time here - the Ecolodge is a fantastic base for the Great Ocean Walk and the environmental commitment of the organisation aligns well with that of a nice long walk along this spectacular coastline. We are, of course, utterly mortified that the milk in your room had passed its use by. We've... More

Feel very lucky to have found this. From the first afternoon, fields of lovely red parrots, kangaroos, & pip the Poteroo. Koalas in the trees, tiger quolls up close, & sugar gliders feeding from your fingers. The little lodge is done in great taste with antiques & style. Nice fire in the great room & loved big dining room table... More
