Anyone reading this and thinking weather to book stay at the Crown Hotel, just do it. I booked 2 nights as a way of combining a hotel with a visit to Shawsgate Vineyard just outside the town, however we should have gone just for the Crown alone. As has been said before this is an old coaching inn in the... More

A classic English country town hotel situated in the centre of a historic market town. The Crown is an old coaching inn with about a dozen rooms. Internally, it is best described as a bit dark with a lack of natural light and is a bit of a labyrinth, with a collection of rustic furniture and historic mementoes in abundance.... More

We stayed 1 night on our bike tour of East Anglia in July 2014. The staff accommodated our bikes in a lock-up outbuilding. The room was HUGE- with a huge bathroom, overlooking the market square. The walls and floors were all uneven which added to the authenticity of the place- its been doing this job since the 1500's. Our meal... More

Hubby and I popped into The Crown for lunch enroute to Aldeburgh on Thursday. We had not booked but were offered a table in the restaurant or bar. Both were charming but we plumped for the bar as was more informal. The menu was extensive and very reasonably priced. I went for 'soup and a sandwich', wow, what a feast... More

As a lover of burgers I tend to order them a lot. I frequently visit my favourite burger joint in London, but have yet to find its equal in Suffolk, until today. The 'crown burger' was juicy, flavourful and very satisfying. What was even better was that the chips which were served alongside it were equally enjoyable. Well worth a... More

We were looking for a last minute weekend break away on the Norfolk/Suffolk coast but being school holiday time I guess, it was fully booked or very expensive. I searched a bit further and stumbled upon this hotel about 20 miles in land from Aldborough. What a find, we loved it! We had a room facing the small market square,... More

We've just stayed here and it was superb. Nothing was too much trouble. From the minute we were shown to our lovely sized room by the manager which was a great touch until we left the stay was ace. The breakfasts were super and we also ate in twice and each time the quality was outstanding . All staff were... More

We didn't stay but we had a drink and sit in this pub which boasts a lot of character and features that make it a truly lovely English pub and we would look at staying next time. There are plenty of nice seat, lovely in summer as it was for us, but a nice ambiance for winter as well.

We stayed at The Crown as a family, and were very impressed. Wasn't expecting much from a family room, and was pleasantly surprised at how nice and spacious it was. Seperate double bedroom and then a sitting area that was converted into the childrens room with 2 beds, plus the bathroom, perfect. The food was great too, exceeded our expectations... More
