TripAdvisor says no restaurants in Champagnac de Belair. But the Moulin du Roc isn't just a hotel; we have lunch there two or three times a year. Possibly it is best summed up by a friend that we took who commented 'how is it possible to get everything 100% right?". And the set lunch is astonishingly good value. more

This is a totally charming hotel in every way. Whilst the location is exquisite the most memorable thing about the place was the staff. All of the girls without exception had just the right blend of efficiency and humour that makes a visit enjoyable. My wife and I cannot praise them too highly. I suppose one should mention the food.... more

Friendly welcome, clean beautiful room - with exquisite furniture, artwork and view. In the beginning we thought that the room was the high point, then we went to the dining room, where the attention of the staff, the wines, and the menu overwhelmed. A major salute to the excellence of the chef! Family owned and family run, and their dedication... more

The hotel is delightful and the gardens are glorious. Outside you find a series of quiet outdoor "rooms", decked out with comfy chairs and chaise longue, then across a bridge which looks like it was modelled on the one at Giverny, to well kept lawns and an infinity pool with modern recliners, showers etc. This old mill still has an... more

This place is perfection, the setting is perfect, the rooms are perfect, the food is perfect. Everything you can think of is perfect. We stayed for only one night sadly but it was the highlight of our trip. It is pricey but worth every single penny. more

We arrived on a misty afternoon. It was like walking into Disneyland for the first time as a child; only you're an adult and its real. We call it Fairyland because it's magical. I booked it based on a single photo and couldn't have been happier. The antiques, especially in the restaurant anteroom, and the atmosphere, transported us to another... more

We stayed at Moulin Du Roc from 18th to 21st August for our anniverary celebrations. We had come from Sarlat which was bustling and busy and were glad of the tranquility when we arrived. The first thing you notice is the excellent customer service, nothing is too much trouble! The next thing is the beauty of the place and the... more

We spent two nights at the Moulin Du Roc in July 2007 and found the hotel surpassed our high expectations from viewing the hotel's own website. The hotel is situated in Champagnac de Belair, a village 10 minutes drive from Brantome. It is well signposted as you enter the village on the road from Brantome. When booking, we selected from... more

That was our third time to this enchanting gem. We are almost reluctant to share the knowledge of its existence with the rest of the world… The rooms are all amazing. Bathrooms implacable (with Hermes Toiletries), the food divine and the service and atmosphere – magical… If you are lucky to stay and eat there you are about to experience... more

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for only two days and one evening however it was the best hotel setting we visiting during our honeymoon in France, September 2004. I should describe it as an "inn" as opposed to a hotel with beautiful grounds, idyllic rooms and a wonderful restaurant setting. Arriving by car, it may be difficult... more
