Our initial impression on arrival was less than positive but once we met "Madame" and were shown to our room, we were hooked. This is not a corporate rabbit hutch, it is something totally unique. There is not a right-angle in the place. The floors slope. It is superb. We couldn't have found our host more charming or helpful and we... More

Stayed 3 nights in this Very nice place. Not the most beautiful chateau, a few taste mistakes, but the owners made us really feel at home and we very much enjoyed the chateau indoor, the pool and surroundings. Really pleasant for family stay.

Since we have discovered le Chateau de La Borie Saulnier in 2005, we have been returning every year for a visit. The castle is owned and conducted by the most pleasant couple Claude and Michel Duseau. They offer loving furnished spotlessly clean rooms in a majestic Chateau filled with memorable furnishing of yesteryear times. A big pool and and a... More

We booked two rooms for late October as Chateau de La Borie offered great value for money compared with staying centrally in Brantome, yet it is only 10 mins (max) drive away. The welcome was warm and the explanation of the facilities, the chateau and the surrounding area was excellent. The chateau itself is, as an earlier reviewer mentioned, authentic... More

We stayed three nights at the Chateau Borie using it as a base for visiting the Perigord Vert and could not have been happier with our decision. First off, the location is ideal - it's in the countryside about 10 minute outside of the town of Brantome and in a huge private park (it's a chateau, afterall) which insures as... More

The place could be quite nice but it's really rundown and the aristocratic owners, especially the woman, should be just a little bit less snooty and unpleasant with commoners like us who come and stay in their castle although to call it a castle is pushing it a bit but it seems to me that anything with a tower or... This place was so bad and so unfriendly we moved out after one night. The place is falling to bits. The beds were uncomfortable, the mattress had long ago lost any firmness and were dirty and smelly. The place is next to a farm and at the freezing cold tiny swimming pool we were constantly covered in flies and stung... More

Old trees cover the long entry road to this medieval castle with a lot of history. At the end a rusty fence. We had the yellow room which was more like a hall with a four-poster bed. This was the first bathroom this year where you had to sit in the bath tub to have a shower, carpet in the... More
