We stayed at this hotel as a group - another in the party wrote the previous "lack of facilities, building works" review. We had intended to leave it at that, but since the manager replied to this review basically accusing us of not telling the truth about being informed of the pool being out of action, I feel I must... We booked this particular hotel because we were hoping to be able to make use of the inside and outside swimming pools. However on arrival we discovered the indoor pool and jacuzzi was closed for redevelopment! There had been no mention of this on their website or on booking.com. To make matters worse the outdoor pool is not heated, which... More

St Nectaire was a treasure. The hotel was little tired but still excellent value with great staff and a delightful setting in the high country of the Auvergne. We loved it and would like to have had another day to explore the surrounding countryside.

Thanks to a bargain find on the internet we escaped for the day (without the kids) to St Nectaire - the Mercure hotel caught our attention firstly through the location then the photos and previous comments on TripAdvisor. Already partly convinced to book, I called the Hotel directly - SOLD. The receptionist was charming on the phone and guaranteed the... More

Ideal stop on route to south coast. It was a little of the beaten track, but that suited us. Staff were very friendly and room a good size, we were a family of four and it was suitable for us. The indoor pool was a little smaller than expected but was still good to relax in after a long drive.

Had one night here on our way south. Its in a great area a few miles off the auto but well worth the detour. Small note of caution there is no petrol in St Nectaire so don't arrive with a dry tank. The hotel is easy to find with plenty of free parking around the hotel. The staff are very... More

Stayed one night on way South. Rooms were tasteful and comfortable. As has been stated by others, could be noisy but that was when a convoy of Harlies passed through and anywhere would be affected by noise from those. Be sure to do the zig zag walk up the hill behind pool. The plants are wonderful. Ate dinner in cafe... More

Pleasant hotel. On the plus side, very helpful and friendly staff. Sauna, jacuzzi, petanque area, ping pong and pool tables, pools(however the indoor one is tiny). On the minus side, there was a smell in our room which airing/plenty of ventilation could not get rid off. Also some customers staying in the front of the hotel were saying it was... More
