The Angel Inn is in a small Constable Country town in the heart of Dedham Vale A 16th Century building with much character and period features, roaring log fires and a good restaurant Could not fault the rooms - they were small'ish but in keeping with the building along with a very good and modern bathroom Breakfast was very good... We wanted to visit the Flatford Mill sites and the picturesque towns and villages of Suffolk and found that this was very well placed for daily excursions, with a return for a welcoming bar and restaurant. Our room, though lacking any comfortable chairs, was charming and originally furnished, with a recently refurbished bathroom. Small niggles were the absence of shower... More

Took a friend for Sunday lunch. Our roast beef was superb, her's rare mine well done with a jug of delicious gravy. Home made Yorkshire pubs. Fabulous . I noticed other meals going out all beautifully presented. Lovely and professional staff. Definitely on my visit again list.

My wife and I stayed at the Angel Inn last Saturday night; we arrived to be welcomed by a smiling Becky who took us to our room which was spotless and well appointed and had clearly been recently renovated to a high standard. We had drinks in the bar before going out to dinner with local friends, sadly we were... More

6 of us stayed down the road on the golf course lodges, and walked up to the Angel on a Monday afternoon. We spent a good few hours in the pub. I wish there were pubs like this where I live in B'ham! Really nice quiet relaxed atmosphere, real open fire, was great.

8 of stayed here last few days on the 'dinner with a twist' deal i.e. 2 nights with dinner at both pubs and it worked great. Interesting menus and great quality food with good mix of flavours. The staff are lovely, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very special at the Anchor with... More

This w/e was a family reunion and all agreed that the rooms were comfortable and convenient. Breakfasts were excellent and 'the twist' of one dinner at The Anchor, Nayland was great. We particularly enjoyed the food at The Anchor. The dinner at The Angel was not quite as good and the service we received at dinner at The Angel was... More

This wasn't our first visit so were disappointed that standards seem to be slipping. Our room was fine - comfortable bed, clean, "proper" coffee & cafetiere. More storage space & a grab handle over the bath/shower would have been nice. Finding someone for check-in & check-out was a challenge. The breakfast room is lovely & the menu appears excellent BUT... More

Stayed on the "weekend with a twist" 2 nights B&B at The Angel with first night dinner, second night dinner with transport there and back with complimentary drink at The Anchor in nearby Nayland. On arriving through front or car park there is no indication of a reception or where you check in. After waiting at the bar for five... More

My visit took place on a two week tour up the east side of England, during which I was staying in pubs and B&Bs, The nightly cost with breakfast ranged between £40 and £65, apart from the Angel, which was £100. Whilst my room in terms of décor was good, it was very small, and therefore I think the place... More
