This was a great place to stay while we were staying in Gimmelwald for 3 nights. We did a lot of hiking and the beds were comfortable and warm to crawl into at night. The staff was a lot of fun and we stayed up late on our last night there watching Dumb and Dumber, drinking beer and laughing with... More

Totally beautiful, Charming employees, Great food and overall one of the best places in europe :). The rooms are quite small and creeky but that just creates all the atmosphere. The area is in general a great retreat from the packed cities of europe. This is a must for those wanting to see the hidden beauty of the region.

First off the setting of this place is amazing high in the Alps of the quiet little village of Gimmelwald. The Biergarten was also very cool to have a few cold ones after a long days hike. I would have given this review a 5 but around midnight on our last night I overhead one of the employees bad mouthing... More

I can only say I was appalled to read this review and totally empathise with what was said. As an Englishman abroad I always like to be treated with respect as does any nationality. All of us at the Pension Gimmelwald can only apologise unreservedly for this member of staff's arrogant behaviour. I think something like 70% of our clients... More

This little mountain pension was just what we needed for our stay in this amazing farming village. Gimmelwald is breath-taking, and Pension Gimmelwald provides you with comfort, cleanliness, warm hosts, and nice views. Plus, you can take advantage of the good food at their restaurant (we ate there for breakfast and dinner 2 out of the 3 days we were... More

I truly loved staying at Pension Gimmelwald. I was part of a group trip and supposed to be in a smaller room, but wound up getting the honeymoon suite at no extra cost! We spent several days and nights there back in 2006 (not the below time reference). Some of my group went out on a day trip, but I... More

While it was a pain dragging our luggage up from Interlaken (train ride, bus ride, cable car ride) for an hour...we were so happy we chose to stay in peaceful little Gimmelwald...the bar/restaurant (reasonably priced for Switzerland) was a great spot to chill...the village itself only takes about 30 minutes to wonder around, but we were pretty happy with just... The hostel has spectacular view of nature. The cable car is very close. The hostel offers breakfast and dinner for reasonable price. The dormitory condition might be changed. In my opinion, 6 beds with normal bed instead of lying on the floor could be better. By the way, 1 toilet and 1 bathroom is not enough, so decreasing of the... More

Phil, Alex, John, Gary and Jodi (all English) run a great little place here and are super friendly to boot. See pictures. Originally a 500 year old farm building converted into B&B with 13 rooms (sleeping 2 or 3) and 6 dorm beds. Shared baths down the hall, but very clean and did not have any conflict with use. Can't... Very short walk from the tram station. It is a backpacker style old wooden structure hotel that is run by an English man - hence, they all speak English fluently! It was a cozy place to stay. The ceilings are low, so I guess if you are over 6 feet... you may have problems. Shared bath and toilet. This place... More

Gimmelwald is such a cute little town and the Pension was a great place to stay. We wish we were still there. How often do you have to take a cable car to get to your hotel?! Fill your water bottle at the water trough, get some local cheese from around the corner and soak in the views. The rooms... More
