We spent a couple of days at Seehotel Baren, after months of working non-stop, just to relax and get some Aryuvedic treatments. This was our second time and like before we were again pleasantly surprised by the friendly service and excellent food. The massages that Maurizio did help us enormously and we felt stress evaporate over the two days we... More

The Seehotel Baren is, as the name suggests, right on the shore of Lake Brienz, the deepest lake in Switzerland, that is fed by the Aare river and runoff from the glaciers and surrounding mountains. Run by the welcoming Werro family, the hotel provides an environment that is designed to make you feel at home. Children are welcome. Staff are... More

Visitors to the Bernese Oberland who are lucky enough to discover the small town of Brienz on the shore of the lake that bears its name (the Brienzersee) will soon find themselves in a wonderland of natural splendor and unlimited recreational opportunities - easily accessible to, but somewhat insulated from, the hustle and bustle of the tourist centers of Interlaken... On my way to the south of Switzerland I wanted to take the route along Lake Brienz and Lake Thun and enjoy a relaxing evening. I had a room with balcony towards the lakeside, and the view into the mountains was magnificient. Even though dinner time was over when I went to the Restaurant, they gladly offered me a tasty... Since the first time I arrived here in 1995, I have been ecstatic to come home to Hotel Baren located on the most beautiful and serene Brienzersee. Each member of the staff is attentive, friendly, and professional. My favorite aspect of this family hotel are the yellow pillowcases and down comforters, not to mention the breathtaking views of either the... More

Sitting out on the balcony looking over the lake made the room great. The facilities in the room itself were average although we did get a massage chair! You need to specifically ask for a room with toilet and shower/ bath otherwise you might be sharing facilities. Very nice breakfast. We felt that we never really tuned into the place... More

Great views from balconies in rooms overlooking the lake. wonderful prominade along the lake for walking. Best outdoor seating that we could find in Brienz, though weather did not cooperate during our visit. Very attentive staff - special shout out to LiLi. Nice breakfast. dinner was fine. Rooms unspectacular -except for the view.

Whilst not exactly upscale...we took a room with a private bathroom and shower (yes you have to ask for that otherwise they will assume you are looking to share the facilities..not us)..., the room was clean, had a great view, comfortable bed, kettle and tea (no coffee) in the room. Hair dryer and clean bathroom, so overall quite nice for... More

I stopped there just for one night on a motorcycle trip through Switzerland. The location is very nice and the staff is kind and available. The only thing that was a bot odd is the fact that we had to share the shower and the bathroom. We know it before hand because it was explained in the description but still... More

Right on the lake with no road or railway line to spoil the view. All the south facing rooms have balconies overlooking the lake. The rooms themselves are fairly basic (more two star than three) and ensuites are small but adequate (note that not all rooms have an ensuite). They are, however, clean and the beds are very comfortable. Staff... More
