This hotel is downhill from the local station set back from the main road and is a good base for taking a number of scenic rail journeys including the Bernina and Glacier Express. I was there as part of a Rail Discoveries party. The hotel is clean, staff friendly, comfy beds, warm quite powerful showers. We were welcomed with a... More

Family run hotel. Excellent showers. Heating in main hotel was too hot. Bedroom heating inconsistent. Beds extremely comfortable. Swiss power points a nightmare! Staff did supply adapters for 10 franc deposit. Food good. We were there on a Rail Discoveries trip with 36 people. Had to be moved from main restaurant when a group of Germans arrived into a canteen... More

This is the only hotel in Tiefencastel. It also has the only bar. The rooms are clean but the hotel is basic. Wi-Fi is patchy and only available in the reception area. There is a fast flowing stream/river which sweeps around the hotel. We had a room on the river. You can hear the river in the room which we... More

The rooms in this hotel were absolutely fine. They had everything needed except tea and coffee facilities. We knew this and took a kettle. Our view was over the river. I would expect it to be very noisy in the summer. We had no problem with it being September. It was like having a air con unit going all night.... More

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights along with my parents, we had two rooms in the annex across the road from the main hotel (next to the river). We were given adjacent rooms which was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable with good storage space and a practical bathroom; our room had a shower over the bath,... More

This hotel is along the Via Albula/Bernina hiking route, so it is convenient for hikers. It is also welcomes tour buses. We wondered if that had something to do with the below average breakfast buffet. There was little choice and it was not replenished. Dinner was not available until quite late. That said, we had a very comfortable room with... More

We had a family room for four with two twin beds being upstairs in the loft area. Our window opened to a view of the village, mountains, and of course the gorgeous alpine "stream" that runs by the hotel. We had breakfast (included in the price) and dinner there two days and everything was delicious. The waitstaff is friendly, the... More

Stayed at The Albula & Julier Hotel during a Great Rail Discoveries Tour. Cannot rate the hotel highly enough. Staff were polite, friendly and very accommodating. Food was excellent - Good Quality, plentiful and well presented. Breakfast varied. Packedlunches excellent too. Rooms large and clean. All in all a good week. Only slight downside was that there was no bar... More

This lovely, family run hotel is set in magnificent Albula Valley surrounded by beautiful, picturesque countryside and snow-capped mountains which form a dramatic back-drop. The village of Tiefencastel is very hilly, however, the Hotel Albula and Julier stands at the bottom, beside the swirling, fast flowing River Albula. For those fit enough, the small walk through the village to St... More

This is a charming family-run hotel which I believe is used by some British tours, although we were in a rental car and found it on Google Earth. We were able to park in one of about 6 outside parking spaces. It's in a good location for road and/or rail travel and the restaurant is good. The back of the... More
