We went to the Olivella for a weekend getaway and we were not disappointed. The hotel is located approximately 7 km from Lugano. It is a charming little hotel right on the lake with beautiful views. My wife and I just spent 4 days at the hotel in a garden view room: forget the garden view and keep the curtains closed. The Swiss Diamond Hotel is locates about 8 km from Lugano. It's right on the lake with beautiful views. Is has several restaurants and it's a good place for meetings. Rooms are big and new. Often full at weekends and rather empty over the week. more

We stopped at the hotel for a few days to see Lugano during a driving trip from Florence to Switzerland. Sadly, it rained heavily which obscured much of the lake's beauty. This is a fine hotel with a superb customer service attitude. Rooms are both unusually large and unusually elegant. Bathrooms are spacious and remarkably well-appointed.
