Hiking for 14 days as a family of four. This place has so much character, and charm, it feels like a national park lodge. They were so good to us, found some one to do our laundry so it would be ready for us early morning, and made us feel right at home. Our room was a luxury after dormitory... More

What a joy this place was after 7 days of hiking. From the cozy first-floor lounge to the paintings lining the walls to the narrow steps leading to a fantastic downstairs restaurant, it carries a wonderful mountain-lodge ambience, steeped in history. Our room was comfy with a peaceful view of thick forest -- from other rooms you can surely see... More

What was good ? The location, the helpfulness of the staff, the local white wine, which I see others have praised, the large foyer which was comfy and full of good places to sit and write or read unobtrusively and the general sense of faded splendour which appealed to my romantic streak. What not so good ? We happened to... More

This could be a very nice hotel if it wasn't for the staff in the reception. In my booking-agreement with the hotel it was clearly stated that local tax was included in the quoted price, but when checking out they still charged me for it. The sum wasn't very big, but the way the person at the desk responded!! So... More

The rooms are not very modern, the lounge has style and for the food I recommend the "Carnozet" in the basement, where they serve local specialities with dry meat and cheese and a good local white wine (Petite Arvine). Best we liked the terrass and the delicous home made "tarte aux myrtilles"!

The hotel has a wonderful location with a spectacular views towards Mont Collon. The hotel itself dates from 1896 and has the clear flavour of alpine tourism in a bygone era. Nevertheless, the facilities are good and the ambience is very calm. The food is decent with a local authenticity, and the breakfast is especially good. The staff are unobtrusive... More

Stayed there for a couple of days in early July, overwhelming views if you get a room facing the mountains as we did, Room 210. Comfortable, old world, excellent food with half board, not cheap but def worth it. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Would love to spend a month there each summer if life permitted. Hiked to the... More

Quiet at 2000 m, an old and charming hotel, above the small village of Arolla, larches and pines, a glacier at 1 hour walk, trecking and climbing, skiing in winter from the door of the hotel. Fine food, a warm atmosphere, 45 min from Sion (switzerland) by car or bus.

They don't make 'em like this anymore -- this is the real deal. If you're looking for "cookie cutter" rooms and a Hilton brand type of experience, this is NOT for you. If you want authentic Swiss hospitality (the owner/manager is the fourth or fifth generation to be running this hotel), then this is your place. Ski-in, ski-out, beautiful scenery,... More

My wife and I stayed at Grand Kurhaus for four nights during early-September, 2014. Our room #210 overlooked the expansive lawn, with a view of mountains. The double-bed room was simply furnished, clean; beds comfortable. Breakfast buffet was substantial and located in the main dining room; fine views with morning coffee. We did not select the half board option (dinner... More
