They don't make 'em like this anymore -- this is the real deal. If you're looking for "cookie cutter" rooms and a Hilton brand type of experience, this is NOT for you. If you want authentic Swiss hospitality (the owner/manager is the fourth or fifth generation to be running this hotel), then this is your place. Ski-in, ski-out, beautiful scenery,... More

My wife and I stayed at Grand Kurhaus for four nights during early-September, 2014. Our room #210 overlooked the expansive lawn, with a view of mountains. The double-bed room was simply furnished, clean; beds comfortable. Breakfast buffet was substantial and located in the main dining room; fine views with morning coffee. We did not select the half board option (dinner... More

We've been going to the Kurhaus for several years and just spent two weekends there. The first with a group of friends and the second on our own. The hotel is a magnificent old building, located in splendid isolation above the village in the middle of the forest. The rooms are simply furnished but spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet. Peter... More

We enjoyed our stop here along our hike of the Walkers' Haute Route. We splurged on the dinner - I think we paid about 60 CHF for 2 of us for a fancy chicken dinner but the portions were large and the delicious. The breakfast buffet was also really nice. A warm dinner and hot showers were much appreciated after... More

Overall very good. Rather bigger hotel, nicely located in the forest closely to the skiing slopes. Rooms are basic but with a stunning view, either on the forest or the mountains. Some are with bathrooms some without. Hotel is kids-friendly. During the day they organize various indoor and outdoor activities and keep them busy and happy. There are also activities... More

Over the years, we have been to Arolla many times, but this was our first stay at the Kurhaus. It really is a breathtaking "olde worlde" hotel. The library / lounge with log fire more than made up for the grim weather outside. We had an economic "antan" room, which was good value for money, even though the mattresses seemed rather... More

The Grand Hotel Kurhaus was a beautiful sight as we came hiking down the path through the larch forest. It had been a long day on the Haute Route trail and quite a difficult decent from the last pass. As we came out of the forest, a beautiful historic hotel stood before us... it was a scene right out of... More

They don't make hotels like this anymore. It exemplified our dream of what a high alpine Swiss hotel should be. Not for the Zermatt crowd; no glitz, no shopping, just a great historic hotel adjacent to a tiny village surrounded by breathtaking scenery. World class hiking from the front door. Staff is friendly without being fake and the hotel is... More

Brilliant. A traditional Swiss alpine hotel, very cosy with lovely woodwork, open fires and super-friendly and helpful staff. A perfect base for exploring a very beautiful and unspoilt valley in the Alps. Lots of alpine walks go right past the hotel (incl. Haute Route). The food in the restaurant is pretty good too and good value for Switzerland. And the... More

Great traditional hotel. Very reasonably priced rooms and a good restaurant. Very friendly and a warm welcome for returning guests. Arolla must be one of the best holiday locations in Europe and the hotel is ideally situated for mountain activities and can arrange for a day with the excxellent local guide (Dédé). Really couldn't ask for more. Have stayed several... More
