We booked an overnight stay at The Rothesay, as our Niece was a having a 30th birthday party nearby at The Galleon pub. Greeted by Dee upon arrival, immediately we got a feel that nothing was too much trouble. Dee showed us to our room & offered tea/coffee & choccie biscuits! Our room (10) was very nice... Clean & modern,... More

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary, and wanted to go somewhere still on a relatively tight budget, but which wasn't the default Premier Inn choice. I think on balance we would rate this place pretty much the same as a Premier, so I guess it depends if you want something a little bit different. The main plus points: Welcoming... More

We were met at reception by Dee, one of the owners. Dee made us feel very welcome and her enthusiasm for the hotel and her recommendations for places to visit was warmly received. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a four poster bedroom. The decor was first class but we were suprised at the tiny ensuite. Breakfast was... More

We visited The Rothesay Hotel for a long weekend with my husband and mother in law. When we arrived we learnt we had been upgraded, and charged exactly the same as time of booking. Michael and Dee give a very warm welcome and nothing is to much trouble. The rooms have everything you could need for a long weekend stay... More

Having spent four weeks staying at the Rothesay for business purposes over the course of this year, I have found the owners to be very friendly and welcoming each time. My rooms have always been clean and well appointed with TV, sofa, four poster bed and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a fairly good choice of breakfast, cooked to order... More

My partner and I stayed here for two nights. We had travelled from Norfolk to participate in the Wiggle New Forest Spring cycle Sportive. We were initially disappointed because our original choice got cancelled and we were offered The Rothesay as an alternative. We needn't have worried as the hosts Michael and Dee were exceptionally welcoming, professional and friendly. The... More

On arriving at The Rothesay you will notice the dirty windows. We then were shown to our suite which had dirty cups, a broken blind. the toilet has the flush button missing and on the 2 chairs in the room had horrible stains. This is what we noticed in 20 minutes as we checked out and got a full refund... More

Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin. The window blind was indeed broken as was the toilet flush. On the strength of these 2 points the guests asked for a refund which I happily gave them. As was pointed out to them, the room had been significantly discounted on the basis of not being 100% perfect. This... More

Absolutely fantastic - rooms were spotlessly clean and well appointed. Stayed in the Castle Suite, absolutely lovely. Dee and Michael go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Breakfast was a wide choice and plenty of it. Would recommend this hotel to my friends and colleagues.

Thank you for taking the trouble to review the Rothesay. I can see you have reviewed many places so your comments are even more pleasing to us as you are judging us against a wide set of experiences. We try to give that personal touch as we feel it to be so important. I am so pleased that you recognised... More

My partner has stayed at the Rothesay many times and I can see why she does from my very first visit. The Hotel certainly has a charm of its own with ample parking to the front, I was a bit concerned that our first floor room which overlooked the car-park and the main road would be noisy but my concerns... having booked this for our wedding guests the night of our wedding I have to say it ruined the occasion for us newly weds. Issues with with access to the pool, a games room advertised which was a pool table with no cues. Would not recommend children to stay as I didn't feel mine were made at all welcome and... More

In my 8 years of running the Rothesay. Never have I encountered such a family. My wife is stopping me from writing what I want to. All I would say is, please read the other reviews to get an understanding as to what we are about and how we treat guests. We have genuinely made mistakes in the past and... More
