We spent the night in the "Pink Room," the only guests at the house that evening. Our housekeeper, Helen, tended to all our needs, as did her adorable dogs Joe and Kevin. The room was lovely and overlooked the famous maze behind the house. The furniture was antique, as were the paintings that hung on the wall, giving the whole... More

We stayed at Traquair for one night (should have been more) this weekend. 4 adults and three children, 15, 13 and 12. Everything from the rooms, the food and the people made us feel heartily welcome. We arrived in the afternoon and the check in to the rooms went smoothly - we stayed in the white and blue room. Before... More

I have very mixed reviews of Traquair. For the bi-annual fair, I think it is a fantastic day or two out. There is entertainment on in the walled garden all day and you can browse the many stalls and explore the maze and grounds. However, I went to their Easter Sunday family egg hunt, were I was left feeling rather... More

Hi, I was sorry to hear you were disaapointed in our Easter Eggstravaganza which from the large majority of feedback we have received was a great success. We have to charge to cover the event but I would point out that £2 above the normal grounds entrance is not a huge amount and covers cost of 5,000 mini eggs -... More

My husband booked a 2 night stay at Traquair house on the 8th,9th November for my 50th birthday treat. A wonderful surprise as I didn't know where we were going until we passed the famous bear gates and turned into the drive way. We had a wonderful weekend in the white room and were well looked after by Helen, the... More

I had planned to stay at Traquair as a treat to myself after a month in Scotland. This is a magical place and to have the opportunity to stay in a beautiful room, have the use of the lower drawing room and breakfast in the Still Room made my dream come true. The castle is a home with priceless pieces... More

We've just had a two night stay at Trequair House to celebrate our Golden Wedding. We were greeted by the housekeeper who showed us to our room and explained which other rooms were available for our use. We stayed in the pink room which was reached via a stone spiral staircase in the main house. The room was spacious. spotlessly... More

I stayed for two nights here as a 50th birthday treat. The room was incredible and having the drawing room to use was unexpected and made my stay extra special. I loved the little extras - like the Traquair House souvenir guide, mints and bottle of ale left in my room. Thank you so much also for the bottle of... More

We spent one night at Traquair and really enjoyed it. We have visited this wonderful house three times before but not stayed, it was a great experience to stay in a building hundreds of years old with such a rich and historic past. The white room was splendid and breakfast delicious. Recommended.

We last visited here over 20 years ago and loved the hand typed (and corrected) details for exhibits. There has been a bit of an upgrade but we were delighted to see that the lack of commercial slickness you find in other places has not yet arrived at Traquair. We left, as before, with a large smile of joy and... More
