Stopped here so as to board an early ferry to Guernsey. Used to be a Premier Inn, but now a Good Night Inn. Very Good in every aspect. Clean. Staff were great. The Pub/restaurant was great value and good quality at dinner and breakfast. Top Marks.

We stayed by chance because we urgently needed an hotel room. Really lucky because the staff made us feel like family for fourteen days. Far nicer than many larger, more expensive places we a stayed in - a real find.

I visited because I was travelling to Basingstoke for a funeral, and the wake was to be held in the Wheatsheaf. I telephoned ahead to ask if I could check in an hour early to change etc. I was told this would incur a charge of £15 so my expectations for the stay were low. However this hotel is made... More

Stayed in room three. Bathroom wasn't clean (hairs & fluff in bath, layer of dust on soap dispenser). Only one large bath towel supplied for a room booked for 2 adults. Decor shabby & badly finished - wallpaper peeling in one corner, excess grouting over all white tiles in the bathroom (looked liked they hadn't been cleaned after the walls... More

We had a family event the following day but we didn't arrive here until 10:40pm due to traffic. We checked in but headed straight for the bar as we needed a drink! We didn't get a chance to eat as we got there so late but the menu looked very appetizing. The staff were very pleasant but we did get... More

We came to the area as my wife wanted to visit the Jane Austen museum. Living only 70 miles away we could have done it as a day trip, but decided to stay overnight just for fun. I searched Booking.com for a cheap room in the area before leaving home, and found a family room at The Wheatsheaf for only... More

Nice room, very comfy bed and decent bathroom. The price was incredibly cheap and the breakfast was good value and tasty. The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly, Would definately stay again.

An overnight stop at the Wheatsheaf proved to be excellent value for money. The very friendly reception staff couldn't be more helpful. Room quality was outstanding with a nice modern well equipped room. Whilst a bit of a labyrinth of a layout, the bar and dinning room offered good value for money and very professional service. A busy 'commercial' hotel... More

Very poor value for money. If you just want somewhere to sleep Travelodge is better and a lot cheaper. The kingsize bed was fine, but the child's bed was a mattress on the floor and there was a chair wedge on the foot of the bed due to lack of space. It was not at all comfortable. The free wi-fi... We have stayed in several Premier Inns and gave always found them to be clean and comfortable- not this one unfortunately! The first thing you notice is how worn, tired and dirty the entrance and corridors are. Dirt around the door plates, kick marks on the bottom of the doors, tape on the stairs where the carpet has frayed. Our... More
