We work in a care home for the elderly and took a few of our lovely residents for lunch at the Wheatsheaf today. We were given a table that was easily accessible for wheelchairs and were sat by the fire so every one was warm, especially on a cold day. We had fish and chips and the suet puddings. It... More

I confess we went here as we decided at the last minute to go out and our favourite eateries were booked but thought after our last visit a few years ago and encounter with lesbians and their pimp we'd give it another go. Mistake. Very busy but we did find a table in the bar as the restaurant was full.... More

Satyed for one night. The room was excellent with plenty of space and in good decorative order. Booked online and everything was as expected. The hotel section joins on to the local pub which is a Chef and Brewer chain. It has recently been refurbished so was very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly. A little disappointed with the... More

The staff were extreamly welcoming and the decoration is beautiful. Sadly the food let it down. £9.99 for lasagna which I'm sure was a frozen smart price just put in a bowl, not pleasant just a sloppy goo (but I was very hungry and pushed for time so ate it) the smallest ever triangle of galic ciabatta I have ever... I stayed just one night at The Wheatsheaf but it was a very comfortable experience. I arrived early and the room designated for me was not ready so the receptionist quickly and pleasantly found an alternative room which had already been serviced. At breakfast next morning, I arrived just moments before they stopped serving. I had thought they served until... More

Popped in here on a whim to grab a spot of lunch & was immediately impressed with the decor, cleanliness & overall appearance of the pub/restaurant. All the tables immaculately laid up & spotless, off to a good start! An elf strolled by, followed shortly after by a (I think) fairy dressed in black, we soon discovered that these were... More

I thought that travelodge had cornered the market in crappy places to stay for too much money, this place proved me wrong, from finding that the guest before me did not quite know how to flush the toilet properly, something that the cleaning person obviously thought i should experience as they did not flush it away, to the stroppy night... we stayed here to visit granddaughter at Winchester University. Just 12 miles away. Used to be a Premier but now a Good Nght Inn. Very similar. Same facilities as Premier. Bit cheaper maybe as out of town. Perfect location. Peaceful. No disturbance even though on ground floor opposite restaurant. Food really good. Staff very friendly.

The Wheatsheaf is half way between Poole, where we live, and Wimbledon, where our daughter's family live. So it has become a good base for Sunday lunch, thus cutting driving time. They have a wide, good value menu and cater well for young children. Worth getting there rather early since they get quite busy.
