We stayed at the Cottage in the grounds of Tairoa Lodge. It was clean with very comfortable and stylish furniture. Would recommend this property if you are looking for total privacy. The only negative (and it's not really one) is the hosts were out of town and we weren't sure what to do with the key when we left. But... More

Thank you very much for making our stay hassle free and comfortable. We stayed in the Lodge which was perfect for our requirements. The rooms and grounds are fabulously presented and the staff went out of their way to assist and make the weekend even more pleasant.

7 of us stayed here for a friends wedding and the bride wished we were having the wedding on the grounds it was so beautiful, the bedrooms were comfortable and cozy, the kitchen well stocked and Linda our host made us feel very welcome. Will highly recommend for special occasions or just a quiet romantic weekend away. The history and... More

Wonderful relaxing place to stay if you need to get away and forget the busy-ness of life, turn back the clock and enjoy life as it once was! An historic building restored to yesteryear, was presented beautifully with the christmas season decoration, gorgeously set table for breakfast with the fire in the background and a chef who knows how to... We stayed in Tairoa Cottage for an entire week. It was spotless, and the staff came in an serviced us every day--making the bed, changing towels, doing any dishes we had not done, etc. The internet was super fast and we could stream from our Netflix account and FaceTime our family with no problems. There was a washing machine which... More

Tairoa Lodge is what you hope for when you book a Bed and Breakfast. The host is incredibly nice and accommodating. Upon arrival, she offered us drinks and refreshments; breakfast the next morning was delicious; a combination of continental breakfast with home-cooked eggs/bacon/hash browns. The lodge itself is gorgeous, with very lovely decorations and a very homey feel. We loved... More

Hewara is not the most inspiring town but Tairoa Lodge is a lovely restful place to stay - away from the busy main road and set in sheltered woods/gardens. The house is full of delightful wood and the rooms are large and airy. We had a wonderful night's rest, in the most comfortable bed so far (amongst many comfortable beds)... More

We were attending a family wedding in South Taranaki and didn't want to stay in a motel. Tairoa Cottage was the perfect option for our family of four: large, private, and beautifully furnished. As the weather was sunny we particularly enjoyed the verandah and gardens around the cottage. Although the cottage is somewhat more expensive than most motels, the difference... More

Great in every way. Ten different B&B's on our NZ adventure and this was by far the best. Didn't feel like going out for dinner and Linda fixed us a great meal. Breakfast as well in the formal dining room. Great setting, music, pool, ambiance, gardens, room, and service. Thanks Linda!

Wonderful warm welcome with a nice glass of wine and nibbles set off 3 great relaxing nights and fantastic breakfasts. We stayed in the green room, loved relaxing in the bath after a busy day. Hawera was a great location and staying in a home with history adds to any trip away. Linda was the ultimate host, nothing was a... More
