Stayed here for one night in end January, my 3rd times in this lovely Japanese Traditional Ryokan. I like Takefue because of her peace, beauty, food & service. Yes, to me this is expensive, but I would rather save up some money like taking a cheap airline & stay at this ryokan. Very heavy snow during my stay, making Takefue... More

We are jaded travellers and very experienced in designing, building and operating hotels. And despite all this, we were surprised by Takefue. Arriving on a rainy autumn day is certainly not the best weather and we were still overwhelmed by the quality experience stay of this ryokan. Definitely one of the best expressions of traditional Japanese hospitality. And the food... More

We spent two nights of our honeymoon at Takefu, and loved every single moment! The food, hospitality, accommodations, massages, and nature were exquisite! Juneji was our butler, and he was so attentive. Lots of surprises for our honeymoon!

Hard to describe this place properly A ryokan to top all ryokans. Impeccable service. Outstanding food. Amenities coming out of your ears. In room private onsen with bamboo forest view. Grind your own coffee. Book your private bath in the middle of the forest. Free ice cream and cream soda. L'occitaine toiletries. Every Nespresso capsule you could imagine. It's bloody... More

I was sceptical when my travel agent suggested a ryokan that was 2 hrs by car from Kumamoto train station. However, this is the best ryokan we have ever stayed in Japan, and we have stayed in a few. It comprises individual bungalows in Japanese style scattered on a gentle slope hillside. The bungalows are surrounded by lovely bamboo and... More

Takefue was recommended by a friend from their recent visit. I took my time before booking thinking a month in advance should be okay but we found out no! The rooms were booked! We only found one open night on a sunday for one room and we had to adjust our entire trip itinerary because of that. But oh my... More

Of course it helps to have had Mayo as our "host" for the 3 nights we stayed at Takefue, a wonderful Ryokan, which goes out if its way to make you feel comfortable. Food was just mind blowing and the setting beautiful (Take means Bamboo, hence all is bamboo). Cant wait to go back again.

I spent 2 nights at Takefue with my wife and my 3 year-old daughter. This is clearly the best service we had ever experienced. We were looking for a quite and peaceful place and this is where we got all. The service was fantastic and the food was absolutely great. I'm not a professional photographer but I still made many...
