We stayed 2 nights in 2 different rooms and we had a time of our lives. It was snowing during our entire stay and the beauty was so surreal.it is one of the most beautiful places we've ever set foot on and the service is impeccable. The breakfast and dinner was top notch and food quality is unmatched.Words cannot describe... More

I spent 2 nights at Takefue with my wife and my 3 year-old daughter. This is clearly the best service we had ever experienced. We were looking for a quite and peaceful place and this is where we got all. The service was fantastic and the food was absolutely great. I'm not a professional photographer but I still made many... I have to say stay in Takefue was just like a unreal fantastic experience in dream. Our flight delayed and we arrived Takefue around 8PM,we were moved when 6 staff standing in front of the gate making a bow to welcome us.Mr Kuni prepared sumptuous dinner and gave Kumamon toys gift to our kids.Hot spring really released and eliminated fatigue. We really... Takefue is absolutely gorgeous! As previous reviewers have said, I may never be able to go to another ryokan again. The bamboo forest theme is almost magical. However, I was glad we were there for only one night. Originally we wanted to stay several days but were unable to make a reservation since we went during Chinese New Years. The... More

The ryokan is truly paradise found in a bamboo forest! We loved every minute of our stay, and simply did not want to leave when check out time arrived. We ended up taking the bus to reach the hotel. You can easily book tickets for the bus online on their English website. It was a three hour bus ride from... More

We stayed for two nights in different room of Kokyuan and Sayo and had unforgettable cultural experience that I feel upset when departing thinking I would never be able to find any better ryokan like Takefue. Design of rooms are very unique with traditional Japanese style. Most of the guestroom had their private indoor and outdoor natural hot springs (super... More

We booked this place because it was rated No.1 by Tripadvisor members, and it did not disappoint. This ryokan surpasses some of my Aman resort experiences, with nice touches such as little gifts, personalised service, and multitude of activities. We had the opportunity to use all the family baths(must try), and had a wonderful dinner and breakfast. I would definitely... More

I am a frequent traveller who hardly remembers the places I had been to or the hotels I had stayed, despite the fact that I plan my own itinerary. A year on, memories of my Xmas eve night stay seems to have been entrenched in my 2kb human CPU. Like one reviewer wrote, if you have not stayed elsewhere before... More

Stayed as a couple for two nights in two different rooms. So, let me start with my conclusion here: Takefue may be the best all-round onsen ryokan experience you can get in Japan. We are well reversed in the luxury ryokan collection and other onsen ryokans across Japan at price points that skyrocket above Takefue--all things considered, I dare say... More

This is the second time we stayed in this onsen ryokan. There are only 11 suites and each suite is unique. In fact, we chose the same suite "Bijyoan" as the first time. It was equipped with an unique outdoor onsen with a small cave. Inside, it even had our own foot bath. Everything about this ryokan was perfect from... More
