Yamabiko has about 5 private onsen baths which guests can reserve for own use. Each bath has a different design & good view. It has each a man and woman bath plus an outdoor bath (man & woman separate) too. The ryokan itself is good enough for me to do onsen "hop-around". The staff are friendly and the meals are... More

A very well kept and sheik onset tucked away on the river banks - stayed for one night and throughly relaxed in the charming traditional Japanese rooms, the beautifully and thoughtfully designed outdoor onsen, and indoor facilities as well. I was continually impressed at how well kept the place was - it wasn't just clean, but cared for at a... More

We booked this particular ryokan partly because they have this lovely giant Newfoundland dog named Momo as their mascot, and partly because they have 8 different onsen on their property to choose from. We stayed in the Kikyou (the "Bellflower") room, an airy, spacious and spotlessly clean tatami room - but the oddest thing to us was that there is... More

We went to this "modern" ryokan with friends. We enjoyed both the outdoor onsen as well as the "family" indoor onsen (some have a view of the river). Nice welcome by the staff, clean room with river view. The kaiseki dinner was very rich even though our Japanese friends thought the level of service was not up to speed since... More

My family with 2 younger children stayed in Yamabiko Ryokan on July 16. Upon arrival, one of the staff came out and picked our luggage immediately. Afterwards, he showed us around the hotels. Although he could not speak fluent in English, I did appreciate his excellent service. Japanese Style Rooms are really big, clean and comfortable. Special "Kaiseki plan" are... More

We have just returned from 5weeks touring Japan on holiday and I would have to rate our stay at the Yamabiko Ryokan as one of the highlights of trip! As we drove in for the first time there was almost a welcoming commitee out the front in expectation of our arrival and they all welcomed us by name! We had... More
