We have stayed in several Ryokans in Japan & this one tops the lot! After a scenic bus ride into the moutians from Fukuoka Airport we were greeted by Sangas courtesy bus at the bus stop in Kurokawa. The driver dropped us off in the centre of town & minded our bags until check in at 3pm. The town is... More

The indoor onsen is just average and small but the rotemburo are simply beautiful. Pity that both indoor and outdoor located apart, so with kids, I only managed to go to the indoor one but walked to the outdoor onsens to have a look. The ladies one was so beautiful, located beside a stream.

My husband and I spent 2 nights in Sanga on Dec 15 and 16. I had previously stayed in 2006 with some girlfriends and remembered it as a really rustic and authentic ryokan at the edge of Kurokawa onsen. This time, the experience is just as memorable especially since it started snowing the second day we were there and by... More

What would one expect from a Ryokan Stay? I would want an Experience that will linger in the memory for a long while to come. You would want comfort, amenities, good onsen, great kaiseki food all delivered by quality, attentive and caring staff who go all the way to pamper you. This was what me and my wife had when... This was BY FAR the best experience I've ever had during all my trips to Japan. AND THAT SAYS A LOT. I traveled here with a group of 4. One of them being with a Chinese friend and he is never easy to pleased but this place will soften anyone. My buddy was completely blown away. It was like heaven... More

It was our first trip in Japan and our first experience in a Ryokan. Now the level is really high ! The room (in fact two rooms with private hot spring) was awesome. The staff was efficient, and pleasant to welcome you, if needed or during the diner. The food is very typical, and they were able to change the... More

I've been visiting Japan regularly since 1982 & in my opinion Sanga Ryokan at Kurokawa Onsen town, is the nicest place thus far. The last time I went was after a particularly weary time of sports & travel and boy oh boy we needed a break before we headed back to Tokyo for more activity before we finally took our... More

Sanga is a way out of the main town cntre. Located in a valley nestled in maple and other deciduous trees with streams running past the buildings it is a stunning location. We walked a small path to our room, stepping over a stream, and looked out onto lovely forest gardens with nature streams - very peaceful! The main building... More

Having never been to an onset or ryokan we had no idea what to expect. Now after visiting Sanga Ryokan the bar has been set very high. After two weeks of touring in Japan we knew we would need a change of pace so booked two nights here. When we arrived here after day of travelling from Hiroshima, it was... More
