I stayed 1 night in this ryokan. The Japanese style room is large with a separate seating area looking into the river. The room I stayed in has private toilet and sink. The women outdoor onsen is beautifully situated under trees. The indoor women onset has showers. The food was served beautifully. The ground around the ryokan is beautiful with... More

Kurokawa Onsen is a lovely village nestled in thickly forested hills. Sanga Ryokan is just 1.6 kilometers to the west of the village centre in a secluded riverside location. The entire grounds of the ryokan were lovely...from the communal lounge, foot bath and fire hut...to the three thermal baths (indoor and outdoor) for exclusive use by overnight guests. The dinners... Spent a weekend here with the family and had an amazing time. The Ryokan Sanga embodies Japanese understated luxury, rooted in traditional design and service. This small hotel is hidden in the forest, by a small river, and all you see, hear, smell and feel is nature at its best. The onsen are extremely well designed, both the shared large... More

I was staying with a friend for one night at Sanga Ryokan. We had quite a wonderful experience. We arrived by bus and luckily there was someone to collect us, although they didn't see the e-mail I wrote the day before. From there on, it was an easy and relaxing time for two people who had almost no idea how... More

This is a beautiful place, nature is well incorporated, and the buildings are simple but gorgeous. However, the service is far from stellar as we were expecting (and paid for). We booked months in advance and we were very excited about staying in a room with a private onsen. Meals were terrific. They included several dishes. Everything was delicious. The... More

Stayed 2 nights at Sanga Ryokan in end July. We requested for a birthday cake as we were there for a birthday celebration. We had a beautiful cake and the staff arranged for us to have after dinner coffee with the cake. They also took pictures for us and gave each of us a photo print momento, which was very... More

Whilst travelling Japan for four weeks, we figured we couldn't leave the country without a proper ryokan experience. And so we decided to travel to Kurokawa Onsen and stay at Sanga Ryokan. It was a wonderful experience. We were picked up in the city centre by a friendly member of staff. He showed us a paper stating he did not... More

My family and I planned this two-night stopover during our trip to Kyushu. While slightly out of the way, it was well worth our time and money. With five of us to a room costing 1,100 SGD, it was perhaps the best value Ryokan we've encountered thus far. Having gone in December, the village was quiet and tranquil, just as... More

First time visiting an onsen. The staff made us feel so welcome and we were really well looked after. Our room had a private onsen which I highly recommend too despite being a little more expensive than ones without. You can just have a dip whenever you want. The outdoor onsens are just beautiful and serene. You'll feel so relaxed... More

If there is any way you can afford to do so, you should spend a couple of days here. Spending time dressed in a yukata (children's sizes available) and enjoying relaxing hot springs and amazing food is a wonderful experience. Ryokan Sanga is a short walk out of town in a lovely peaceful location. It does take a bit of... More
