It's a huge Japanese style resort nested in the woods. The room was big with sliding doors, very Japanese, very clean. Sleaping on a tatami is not for everyone, but there were additional futon mats in the closet in the room for people who had difficulties. Kotosankaku is located near the entry point of the stone steps (more than 1,600 steps to the very top) to the Kotohiragu Shrine (Konpirasan), the main reason for people to visit this city of Kotohira. This huge "ryokan" has a hidden japanese side with the japanese rooms : when you are ushered, you are really in Japan with sliding doors, tatami, kimono and so on. Staff is friendly but very professionnal. Meals are included (dinner and breakfast) and really delicious in the pure tradition.
