Hotel guests have after hours access to the museum. It was thrill to walk through this architecturally dramatic structure devoted to modern art. There is a small alpine car that takes guests to the open air rooftop where the reflecting pond mirrors they sky. Have a drink at the bar up there. Very low key with a wonderful view. Our... More

This is the place for the love for nature, art and Tadao Ando architecture. The house is surrounded by sculpture by the sea, seascape, landscapes and wonderful galleries. The breakfast/french restaurant has calming seascape while the Japanese cuisine has a unique architecture and seaview. We caught a red sunset which was so rare and magnificent. We stayed there 2 nights.... More

The hotel was good but was not the great experience I was hoping it would be, there were little annoying things which just took the edge off, the long queue to check in no milk available to add to tea in the lounge no vegetarian dishes on the restaurant menu so was offered a bed of vegetables which was just... This is one of the world's special places. Benesse House lies at the centre of the stunning Benesse Art Site (3 world class contemporary art galleries, breathtaking outdoor sculpture and the wonderful 6 site Art Project). The hotel has three amazing sites, we stayed at Beach, fabulous modern designer rooms overlooking the dreamy Inland Sea. Both restaurants (Japanese and French)... More

We stayed for two nights in the "Beach Hotel" at Benesse House. If you like modern art then a trip to Naoshima is ideal. The hotel itself doubles up as a museum, making a stay here a very unique experience. The rooms were pristine and minimal, with slick modern lines and wooden features. Each room faced out to the beach... More

This hotel isn't perfect but still deserves 5 stars since it goes beyond what a typical hotel offers, such as access to a museum and all the art. Rooms are basic but contains all the required amenities. The whole hotel set up forces you to enter into peaceful set of mind; to go to a slower pace, to take your... More

Benesse House is the hotel-restaurant-museum complex on Naoshima Island. If you want to really experience Naoshima, you really have to stay at Benesse House. There rooms are in three different buildings - "Park" in the main building set back from the water seems like nothing special. Oval Rooms are located atop a hill in the building with a museum and... We really were looking forward to a mix of architecture, art, nature supported by Japanese high service levels and friendliness. Yes the architecture was impressive but in cold contrast to the environment, which in itself was interesting. The art was rather pretentious, overrated in our view and that was refelcted in the stevice levels of the hotel which were poor... More
