i stayed there for 1 night...got fabulous service from the supervisor. our ferry schedule was in the early morning, around 6 AM, and no bus has started operating that early, so we were planning to go to the port by foot (people said about 40-50 minutes). when we explained our plan to the supervisor (a very nice Japanese uncle), he... Staying in yurts is a special experience. You'll find yourselves close to the beach. The beach is great and was our first real beach in Japan. There is no airco in the yurt so during the day it's sauna like hot inside ( there is a fan though ) but at night everything is OK. Fortunatly there is a frig... More

Enjoyed the change of style in these mongolian-style pao (yurt) tents. There are 10 of them in a semi-circle in grass on the beachfront and only minutes from the art galleries on the SW coast of this island which more-or-less fit folk can walk around in a day while taking in the main galleries. Its a stretch to then see... More

Stayed here for two nights. Reading the reviews I was a little concerned, but they evaporated as soon as I checked-in. The staff was friendly and always helpful, recommending some restaurants within walking distance. It's right on the beach and they have a vending machine with beer. How can you resist having a cold beer on the beach, day or... More

I visited in April and absolutely had the best time. The weather was perfect although it was still off season and so rather quiet, I ended up having the whole 4 man yurt all to myself. I loved the location - right by the beach and a few moments walk from the famous Yayoi Kusama pumpkin. There are frequent free... More

We stayed whilst we were enjoying all the art sites on Naoshima for 3 nights. The staff were friendly and helpful. The heating in the yurt was very effective and it was a lovely view in the morning. It was the hike to the loo which I found a little off putting in the night! It is, though, right next... More

First, Tsutsujiso is well placed, right on the beach and a short walk to Benesse house. The yurts look a bit shabby from the outside but they are very nice inside. I would say, though that we arrived on a hot day and they were all closed up and extremely hot on the inside. so if they opened the windows... More

This is a different type of lodging than one is probably used to. The tatami-mat huts were a lot of fun, but could be tough if your group is more than 3 (though they supposedly sleep 5). The dining experience is interesting. We went for the Asian options at breakfast and dinner. During the day stroll along the water to... More

This experience is rated 5 stars, but it has to be contextualized. This is not a luxury experience. This experience is atypical. However, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I stayed in one of the Mongolian yurt tents. I found it to be beautiful, almost transcendent in a weird way. The meal was fantastic, and it encouraged me to step outside... More

We spent one night in a Mongolian tent last year and had a blast. Sure, it's not luxury, but you're right on a beach and the tent/bedding was spotlessly clean. We ordered the dinner + breakfast in advance also, which were very good! The shared shower facilities weren't great (toilets fine) so we did without a shower that night. I... More
