We stayed a night after walking Kumano Kodo, a grueling last day with packs from Koguchi. Charmant is about 100 metres from the bus and train station. Quiet. The whole town is so quiet. Is this what they mean by the younger generation deserting rural areas? Lovely welcome; another toast or coffee at breakfast offered free. Room pretty much exactly... More

What sets Hotel Charmant apart is definitely the quality of the staff; even though only basic English is spoken, the staff always made sure by written notes that we were fine & had all we needed. Breakfast was great, not Japanese but still plentiful & varied, with good coffee. The room was very comfortable & spotless, however a bit gloomy... More

close to station, nice breakfast served at the table, simple but accurate room, very kind owner, many restaurants on walkingdistance, no elevator available, no bar or restaurant in the hotel, no view from the room.

Stayed from 16-18th November 2014 Hotel is located less than 5 minutes walk from Katsuura JR station, another few minutes walk to Katsuura Fish market. You can take their local buses from train station to the sight seeing places. The staff is friendly, resourceful and helpful, the rooms are clean and the bed comfortable. Lots of brochures and location maps... More

I loved this place, i think it is family run, it is warm and welcoming and spotlessly clean. There is very little English spoken (although requests seemed to be understood quite well) but they are well set up with written information/English signs etc. Couldn't get a better location and breakfast was lovely (including the unusual little breakfast addition at the... The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, they welcome you with a sweet soup. The hotel is close to the station (less than 5min by foot). They provide you maps of Naichi Taisha and near by restaurants. The breakfast is good. All of this for a reasonable price. I recommend this place!

Very near JR station. Look at my photos for the guiding corner as u exit JR station. Then look across the road, for the entrance gate to the street where the hotel is located, some 4 or 5 doors away.We checked in at 8pm and was given a hot, welcome soup which was very nice. Helpful staff who gave us... More

I stayed here one night while exploring Kumano Nachi Taisha. The hotel is sort of a standard business type hotel, but the owner gave me a warm welcome and a lovely bowel of sweet-bean soup upon arrival. The town itself is dominated by several big resort hotels, so this is a good budget travel option. The breakfast was wonderful and... More

We stayed here for two nights. Check-in was smooth but we were disappointed that we were not allowed to check-in before 3pm. Room is spacious but because our room is located at the back, it gets rather noisy when the window is open. The first night was a bit of a horror due to the karaoke singing. It went on... More

The hotel is very close to the train and bus station. The staff is very helpful; I needed to find out bus times, etc., and got very precise help. From the outside, the hotel is indeed very charming looking; the rooms are pretty standard business hotel level. The room I had was quiet. The breakfast, which the hotel served a... More
