We arrived here at the end of a 6 day Kumano Kodo hike to be met by Japan's version of Basil Fawlty stalking the premises advising guests what they could and could not do. My parents and my family of five stayed in two Japanese style rooms. They let us drop off our luggage before check-in and we hiked the Nachi Falls area. After completion of 5 days self-guided walking on the Kumano Kodo trail, we ended up in Nachi-san which has a beautiful shrine complex and the highest waterfall in Japan. Small lodging house and from our room we have a great view of Japan's highest waterfall - the sacred Nachi-no-Otaki.
