Visit Wakayama Prefecture in early December with my wife and enroute spend a night in this hotel. A small boat (can carry around 30 persons) takes us to the hotel which is built by a small island. Parking is provided before we take the boat and the trip is just a two minutes ride. Staffs are friendly and check-in is... More

The hotel is located on a small island in the Kii-Katsuura bay: there is a (free) ferry that leads from the Kii-Katsuura harbour to the hotel, about every 15-20 minutes (depending on the time of the day), and it's a 5-minute trip. Architecturally speaking the hotel is not quite a success but its main attraction is the beautiful outside onsen,... More

We chose this hotel mainly for its well-known outdoor onsen facing the sea. It is located in an island which is about 10-minute ferry ride from Kii-Katsuura. We arrived without making a reservation and were glad to have a room available as there were many guests. The hotel is quite old but very well maintained. The rooms were clean and... More

I guess this has lot to do with the price I paid, 21000yen half board for 2 is rather good value, consider the quality of the amenities and services. The train ride to Katsuura was very scenic, wish I had stayed a few more days along the way, town like Kushimoto looks stunning, Kii Katsuura was also a revelation,it is a... More

I pick this hotel because of its location. Although the hotel is a little bit old , but I had a nice room with a beautifull view to the bay with Kumano mountains as a backdrop. There is also a view point from that can be access from the hotel roof. The food is delicious and the onsens have a... More

Spent just the one night at this hotel/ryokan. The hotel has 141 rooms and is located on a small island in the commercial harbour, about a three minute ferry ride. The hotel is designed to wrap around the point of the island, which is fine in theory but means you have to walk a marathon down long hallways to get... More

Nakanoshima Hotel is built on a small island with a stunning view on the top of their observation area. Clean room and great dinner served. We also enjoyed very much in the onsens just next to the sea. The front staff can speaks good English.

This hotel is, as its name says, inside a small island. In spite of the fact that the big building is agresive in such a place, being inside is very pleasant, surrounded by the sea. After our trip to Nachi Taisha (unforgettable place) we reached the Nakanoshima in a shuttle boat and had a beautiful bath in the onsen, just... More

We went to the hotel for the view and we got what we wanted. The onsen is directly facing the pacific ocean. The hotel ground is huge as well as the rooms. The front staff didn't speak much english, only the bellboy could, so knowing a few sentences in japanese can be useful. On the other side the hotel is... More

We stayed at the Hotel Nakanshima during a 2 1/2 week vacation in Japan for 2 nights. To me, it was one of the highlights of the trip. The location is quite amazing - on a small island that is reached by a shuttle boat that leaves frequently from the Kii-Katsuura dock. The hotel consists of a few buildings that... More
