The food, service, atmosphere and room were all great. Love it here at Ichijoin. It is worth waking up early in the morning for the morning service at 6:30am. The temple is located just a minute walk from the Senjyuin bus-stop.

It was our first time in Koya and first time staying in a temple. The temple is, as most other temples are, on the bus route from the cable car station. Very easy to reach and also well located to walk around town and do a bit of sightseeing. The facilities are pristine, giving a sense of luxury. Fives star... More

interesting experience, spending a night in a temple is pricey. Monks were very helpful, taking care of all. Providing warm stuff for shoes and gloves the next morning when we leaved early! Beds although futon, were comfortable. Room with all you need. Even a TV set, what is weird when you spend night at a temple. Food (dinner and breakfast(... More

It was the second time for me to spend a night at Koyasan, this time in the western part. This time we chose the Ichijo-In Temple for our stay. It was a very good choice! When we arrived our big bags were taken and brought to the rooms immediately while we registered at the front desk. We had reserved one... More

Such a good experience. From when they greet you at the door, they are fantastic hosts. The price for us included a nights stay and dinner in our room, access to the baths in the evening, then prayers at 6am and breakfast after. They give you robes and toiletries etc as well. It's a very accessible way of experiencing another... More

This is a beautiful place with lovely rooms and a very serene atmosphere. It would suit someone who really appreciates japanese food as you get served a variety of veggie food beautifully presented for dinner and for breakfast. Dinner is at 5 pm and breakfast is at 7 am. I have tried but unfortunately am not a massive fan of... More

Ichijoin was a peaceful, intimate place to spend a summer evening in Koyasan. We had a very quiet and clean room looking out on the mountain behind the temple. The food was fantastic, the gardens beautiful, and the monks were very kind, helpful, and welcoming to us. Our favorite part of the evening was the shared bath--it's clean, relaxing, and... More

We really enjoyed our overnight stay at Ichijoin. The monks were really friendly and completely made you feel part of the experience. Our room was very luxurious, with all the mod cons, and the shared Japanese bath was pristine and relaxing. The food was amazing - really tasty, and loads of it! We were invited to the morning service, which... More

A Buddhist temple stay is not for everyone but if you're browsing the Trip Advisor section on Koyasan you're more than ready to spend time at Ichijo-in. Located on the west side of town, it is one of the smaller temple lodges on Mt. Koya and has a very intimate and personal feel about it as opposed to other places... More

As others wrote this is not just an accomodation it is an experience! For anyone to come to Koya-san I recommend a temple stay if one is interested to have a authentic experience of this place. The japanese style room was nice and clean and the staff/ monks were very kind and helpfully explaining everything we wnated to know. Really... More
