We had a peaceful and refreshing time in Yoshino. Despite it being the long weekend in peak autumn season, Shimosenbon was not too crowded. There were just enough people to keep the area lively, and yet allow us to enjoy the many temples and countryside with a sense of quietness and tranquility. Ryokan Kato is situated very near the ropeway... More

Even if our day in Yoshinoyama was cold & rainy without much sight of koyo, our stay in Ryokan Kato made up for our disappointment. After an afternoon walk in cold rain down from Okusenbon, a soak in the nice hot bath was a welcomed relief. Our room was spacious but minimal with a log chalet feel. The common area... More

I do not write reviews but am compelled to share our wonderful experience here in Japan. My daughter and I spent two nights at this welcoming hotel high on mount yoshino Japan. From the moment we arrived staff were amazing, so kind, friendly and accommodating. The hot springs are beautiful and relaxing. The food is traditional Japanese and every delicious.... More

Stayed one night as a get away from busy nightlife of Osaka, well worth the trip. About a hour by train from Namba will get you to the rope tram that takes you up the mountain. I got off the train at around 5 pm and you could tell the area was shutting do for the evening. I think I... More

We were assigned a room in the newer log-cabin area. Our second floor room had a beautiful view - including a blossoming cherry tree. They have two onsen baths - as women we enjoyed the larger bath in the evening (they switch genders in the morning). We saw the smaller bath in the morning, but didn't use it. The futons... More

I live in Japan, and my Mom and Sister came to visit from the US for the first two weeks of April. We stayed in mostly Airbnb locations for the majority of the trip, but for our 3D/2N at Mt. Yoshino we booked the Ryokan Kato. It was hands-down the BEST part of our entire trip together. The staff, including... More

We arrived late close to midnight at Yoshino station we were traveling from Kyoto. It was a little confusing and far to get here. We were worried that we wouldn't be able to get to the hotel. The train staff helped us call the hotel and in 5 minutes a car approached with a Japanese lady named Junko Kato. She... More

I came here during the Sakura blossom season, but was a bit early, since this is on the mountains, so the trees seem to bloom a bit later than in the lower cities. But the scenes were breathtaking nevertheless. The location isn't too far from the cable car (which was the preferred way my friend and I traveled up the... More

Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing location in full cherry blossom time (April 23rd,) Beautifully built ryokan from Yoshino cedar by the owners and helpers. Swing in "lounge" made for special photos. Thoroughly recommend an overnight stay here.

As mentioned by many reviewers, the ryokan is well located, clean and quiet, food is good and staff are nice.. I'd like to share my memorable experience for this Autumn. One morning I wanted to go to Kintetsu station to catch a bus to a river to see the autumn leaves and asked for transportation service to the nearby Yoshino... More
