We had a great visit at Shiretoko Grand Hotel Kitakobushi. I particularly recommend eating any salmon on offer and enjoying the view from the onsen. The views are beautiful. The service was good and we had fun eating at the "viking" which is the Japanese word for buffet.

As we book via booking.com, we got a room in an older wing of the hotel. The room itself is very outdated, more like a hotel in the 80s, but they do try to keep it clean despite the burnt cigarette holes in the sofa. The rest of the hotel and facilities are all 5 stars, but they need to... More

Wonderfully located at a fishing port (literally at your door step), this hotel met my expectation of a 5 star experience. We stayed at the West Wing (2 beds + tatami area big enough for another 3. West Wing is nearest to the big fabulous onsens and restaurants. It is a well decorated room with good furnishing. There's no photoshopping... More

The best hotel ever! Because of the price selection, the room was in an older building but the stay was super nice! The buffet selection so huge, I could not possibly eat everything. The foot bath was overlooking a port and very relaxing. You can see stars from the top outdoor bath. I really didn't want to leave the place!!!

I spent one night at this hotel. The room was big and comfortable with a view on the sea. I loved the onsen, especially the open air one. It was winter so the contrast between the cold weather and the warm water was enjoyable. The dinner buffet was good.

Have one night in the normal twin room in the West Wing and one night in the open-air bath room. Twin room in west wing is quite dated. Looks like a 70's room. Open-air bath room comes with tatami, not western bed as in the hotel page and did not look that flashy too>> http://www.shiretoko.co.jp/rooms/mainbuil.html Only thing I can say... More

The room is well organized with beds and tatami area with a view on the harbour. The breakfast and dinner buffet are excellent and of good quality and selection. The lobby area was really big with sofas. There was also a shopping alley and a children's game arcade. Free wifi were provided every where within the hotel. The onsen on... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in Jun on our self drive holiday to Hokkaido. I only booked breakfast as I thought I would like to try the local restaurants for dinner. On our second night we decided to have dinner at the hotel. We went to one of the restaurant for ala carte dinner and to our surprise it... More

This hotel was supposed to be the highlight as it was the most expensive in our entire 'low budget' trip. Room is nice, big and clean even we were In the old wing. Onsen is huge with a view! What was disappointing was the dinner. I wanted my group to experience a traditional Japanese Onsen hotel & it's legendary dinner.... More

Stayed at the hotel with my husband during his work conference for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. The room was beautiful with a lovely view of the sea and the harbor. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Good breakfast and delicious dinner. They provide you with "Yukata" which is sort of a kimono that you can wear and... More
