When I first drove into the hotel ground and view the hotel entrance, I felt my expectations plummet to the ground. I was expecting a grander entrance instead of the low-roofed entrance that wasn't even lighted up. We walked in to enquire if we could drop off our luggage before we head to Shiretoko Park and was astounded to find... More

I've stayed here twice, both times the staff was incredibly helpful and warm but wish the buffet food was a little more so! To be fair, many hotels in Japan, especially out of the cities, when they have buffets the food does tend to not be as hot but really a small complaint. I was very happy with my stay... More

One of the larger hotels in Utoro but the only that was located on the water. The hotel is quite large, with three wings. Only the top floors had been renovated to a more modern style, and the rest seemed to be typical Japanese style. Nothing fancy, and a bit dated. Anyway, the view out to the sea is quite... More

Visited Utoro during Winter, Feb 2015. Booked their Okhotsk Room with Terrace+Open Air bath+ Facing Ocean. Staffs are in generally helpful but you might need to be a little patient with them since not all of them are able to communicate in English as well. First floor of hotel consists of many facilities which includes Table tennis, Children playground, Ramen... More

Great location with excellent views pending your room location. Our room faced north with great view of shore. Others mentioned roof area facing west getting great sunset pictures. Excellent buffet with wide selection and very attentive staff. As with many onsen hotels, there are main and side buildings where side buildings sometimes have newer rooms. Just check with hotel prior... More

立地抜群 Location is best,near Unesco Heritage[Sfiretoko]etc etc.世界遺産知床などからも近いです。すぐそこです。24Hconvinience store 1-3min by walk、and Buffet style Dinner and Morning very nice.Especially [OFURO]the bath of spring,exsentric,likea a fantazy! コンビニが、すぐそこに二件あります。朝夕のバイキングは最高に素晴らしく、品数は数えられません。 また温泉は他に類を見ないをほどさまざまな種類の温泉があるうえ、清潔できれいです。

We had a great visit at Shiretoko Grand Hotel Kitakobushi. I particularly recommend eating any salmon on offer and enjoying the view from the onsen. The views are beautiful. The service was good and we had fun eating at the "viking" which is the Japanese word for buffet.

As we book via booking.com, we got a room in an older wing of the hotel. The room itself is very outdated, more like a hotel in the 80s, but they do try to keep it clean despite the burnt cigarette holes in the sofa. The rest of the hotel and facilities are all 5 stars, but they need to... More

Wonderfully located at a fishing port (literally at your door step), this hotel met my expectation of a 5 star experience. We stayed at the West Wing (2 beds + tatami area big enough for another 3. West Wing is nearest to the big fabulous onsens and restaurants. It is a well decorated room with good furnishing. There's no photoshopping... More

The best hotel ever! Because of the price selection, the room was in an older building but the stay was super nice! The buffet selection so huge, I could not possibly eat everything. The foot bath was overlooking a port and very relaxing. You can see stars from the top outdoor bath. I really didn't want to leave the place!!!
