Our 6 night stay at Jon Nobi exceeded expectations. When skiing we usually try to stay in apartments but were very pleased with the ryokan accommodation. Our bed was extremely comfortable and there was plenty of room. The breakfasts offered a good selection and we enjoyed the lobby bar for pre-dinner drinks. Only two things were negative; lack of hanging... More

We stayed 7 nights at the Jon Nobi and loved it. It is 3 minutes walk to the "Yu Road" and the ski slopes, right in the middle of the restaurant area, 2 private onsen and 2 public ones as well as being 10 metres from the "O-Yu" public onsen. The rooms (we stayed in a Western one) are a... More

I travelled with my wife and 18 year old daughter for 10 days of skiing. John nobi is in the perfect location on a short 100m walk (albeit steep) to the moving walkway which takes you onto the Hikage area of the ski slopes. It is also right in the centre of town allowing easy access to restaurants, shops, onsens... More

What can I say about the Jon Nobi, except we loved it. Stayed for 7 nights in March 2014 and a western/japanese room. Rooms are warm and cosy with comfty beds. Especially loved the private onsens which were available for guest - fantastic for recovering after a days skiing. The Jon Nobi is in a great central village location -... More

If you love authentic Japan this is the place to come. Jon nobi is a traditional but modern Ryokan we had a deluxe room and were very happy. Can't wait to go back! Best - Location, Breakfast, Uncrowded, Ski Slopes are breathtaking, Restaurants fabulous,Staff polite and helpful. Loved Julie at Footbar she helped us out and spoke English which was... More

We had a great time here at this charming authentic Ryonkan. The rooms are very traditional, although if you've not stayed in a traditional Japanese room before, are a bit of a shock first time viewing. The futon beds are laid down in the evening after arrival. I would recommend booking two rooms if you have older children, as we... More

The rooms are basic (I was in a Japanese room), but really, for a ski village that is all you need! The whole experience of tatami mats and traditional tables and chairs, it was exactly what I wanted. The rooms were warm and when I looked out my window, I got what I wanted, a perfect powdery white view of... More

This was our second stay at Jonnobi and once again we really loved it. My only criticism would be that the tatami mats in our room may have seen better days - flacked all over our clothes etc. Everything else was great - rooms spacious and comfortable, breakfast really good, bar area fun, onsens fabulous, brilliant location and all the... My wife and I stayed for a week at the Jon Nobi, along with another pair of friends, and we loved it. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, the in-house onsens were great, and the service provided by the staff was excellent. The location was very convenient for skiing, being a short walk below the Yu Road, which connects... More

We chose Nozawa for an authentic cultural experience of Japan while taking in a ski trip. That is exactly what we got! The Ryokan Jon Nobi was our second hotel after arriving in Nozawa – the first being completely disastrous and highly unsuitable for our needs & standards (see other review). On this trip, we were a couple travelling with... More
