I went skiing in Nozawa in January 2015 and stayed in Sumiyosiya. It is a small but cozy ryokan. The staff were extremely helpful and nice. Most of them do not really speak English, but it was good that one of them speaks fluent English so we could ask him about ski information as it is our first time to... More

We stayed at Sumiyosiya in early April for 5 nights and had a wonderful experience. Hiro answered all our questions and the staff were very helpful. This Ryokan has a hot spring inside the hotel. We used it everyday although if you have never been in a hot spring before, I would recommend running the cold water before you get... More

Not only our family enjoyed the quaint ryokan with a beautiful view of the mountain and village from our room 'wakana', I was really impressed by the staff there especially the front desk going the extra mile to make our trip in Japan very convenient. I left my passport in the room on the day we left for Kanazawa. I... More

Our party of 6 (40 yr+ males) stayed in 2 rooms for a 4 day skiing holiday in early March 2105. We all loved every aspect of our stay - accommodation, the traditional Japanese feast for breakfast and the immersion into a traditional and classy ryokan. Front of house staff were friendly, attentive and entertaining. Please don't come here to... More

Staff are excellent, and they make the effort to run you through everything! It's a old hotel but very well maintained! We regret not having dinner included. I can only imagine the standard is very high! The best part is the drying service, you leave your wet ski clothes in the basket in the evening, and you get them back... More

We booked here because of the fantastic reviews and it's proximity to the ski field. We were not disappointed - Hiro was amazing, he gave us excellent tips on where to eat and ski. We really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms were clean and snug. We stayed in a traditional room and were comfortable on the futons. We had... More

We stayed here a week with our 2 children, ages 10 and 8yrs and would recommend it. Sumiyosiya is a very traditional Japanese cultural experience as well as handy for the ski slope and village restaurants. The staff were warm and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We loved putting on our yukatas (casual kimonos provided for the stay) and... More

As a family of 2 adults 3 kids ( 2 x 14yo and 1 x10) we stayed here in January for 7 nights and could not have been happier. Every aspect of our stay went far beyond our expectations. We felt like VIP guests the entire time. I am nearly lost for words at how wonderful our stay here was-... More

Stayed for 4 nights at Sumiyosiya with my partner and 4 children, and we had a blast of a time! The staff was friendly and warm, and made our stay so enjoyable. Hiroyasu-san was very friendly, and spoke good English and could help us with directions and guidance to the town. The rooms were nice, big and very clean and... More

Stayed for 3 nights combining sightseeing and a bit of skiing. Our visit wasn't planned so the staff were brilliant at organising ski instructors and picking us up off the bus. The private onsen in the hotel is lovely and often you will be the only person in there. Food in my view was up there with some of the... More

Thank you very much for your stay with us and writing your comment at TripAdvisor. We are really happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and Nozawaonsen. Our onsen is coming from our ground and not used circulation system. That means fresh hot spring always pours in bath tub. We are very proud of it. Our chef tries to cook... More
