I stayed during ski season so this review is overdue. The Room: We booked the room type 'F' via a travel agent who specialise in Japanese travel. I'm usually quiet wary with travel agents because if anything goes wrong, you have to speak to the agent to sort it out. Luckily I got what I paid for. The room was... More

The walk up the hill to get home can be a bit painful after a day's skiing, but its worth the effort. The hotel rooms are good value and include a generous buffet breakfast. Pro tip for breakfast: Avoid the scrambled eggs (which are pretty much cold) and order poached eggs from the wait staff (just google poached eggs and... More

My wife and I stayed at the Nozawa Grand for four lovely nights in early January for the Dosojin Matsuri and for skiing. We had a the Type B room, which was very large for Japanese standards. Our window looked out onto the hillside and, when the snow cleared, had a nice view of the base of the mountain. My... More

We stayed at Nozawa Grand Hotel for 4 nights in Jan15. The hotel is conveniently located. There is a chair lift 5 minutes away that takes you up to Higage Gondola and the ski resort. Also, the express Nagaden bus from JR Nagano station and local bus to Togari Nozawa Onsen, both stop right at this hotel. It is a... More

Cool traditional styled room hotel. Ours had its own onsen outside that was very cool also. Beds were small but comfortable, two solo bed setup in ours. The food at this place beat expectations. Our dinners were these 10 course meals where you got a little of everything. There's enough choices for breakfast. There is a locker facility for ski's... More

Futons are of course very hard but aside from that loved the tatami room. Great view, awesome hotel onsen. Great breakfasts. Loved the access lift nearby. We were hardy travellers and enjoyed all the snow and ice in town but you'll want to be fairly agile.

One of the few hotels with free parking. But that's where most of the good stuff end. The rooms albeit spacious and relatively clean, were very dated with a strong musty smell. The carpets need a revamp very badly. They were stained and very old. The location is far from the ski slopes. There are 2 ways to get there.... More

We loved the 4 nights here in the traditional rooms on the 4 th floor, we had the ramen and tempura for dinner, scrubbed down in the onsen and soaked post skiing it was great. Hired skis from st antons at hikage and left them locked up there overnight it was perfect. X

We had stayed one night in this hotel. Our room was Japan+modern style was very spacious and good scenic view. There was one staff Miss Lawrence who spoke very good English. The hotel is located on the highest point of Nozawa onsen town area so, you can see the whole town from your room. The only trouble we found was... More

We stayed at the grand for four nights and loved it! The staff were welcoming and accommodating. We had a Japanese western style room with an open air bath, the room was clean and spacious included breakfast, which was a mixture of western and Japanese. We also had dinner included which was traditional and absolutely delicious..It is a 5 minute... More
