I have stayed with the Tomii family at Maruji every year since my first visit to Nozawa Onsen 7 years ago. A combination of incredibly personal service, great location, and being a truly beautiful and authentic Japanese lodge make for a perfect stay in Nozawa. The rooms are spacious and large, an in-house onsen caters for those not daring for... More

Spacious family run Japanese lodge. Very clean, spacious and quiet. First time with tatami mats and rice pillows and slept well. Onsen bath on site. Close to a ski run and an easy walk to the village restaurants for dinner at night. Lovely lounge with a wood fire for relaxation. Rooms are light and airy with large windows to take... More

We (two couples) were referred here by the Lodge Nagano crew because they had already booked out. All was great really, no worries. Rooms were large and clean (of course!). Breakfast was nothing special or amazing, just standard lodge breakfast such as toast, yoghurt, sometimes eggs, rice and juice. I would say if it's your first time in Japan you... More

After getting an excellent welcome brief from Mariko and Luke 5 doors up at Lodge Nagano, Luke settled us into Maruji. Wow! a very impressive family run property setting a very high standard in cleanliness, fixtures and service. Spacious traditional rooms with tatami mat beds. Warm dinning room with both western and Japanese breakfast, in house onsen and an excellent... More

Stayed 6 nights in January mum with 19 and 20 year old daughters. Loved the breakfasts, room nice and warm, bathrooms clean, own onsen bath so you do not have to go out, close to village and eating places, close to snow and lovely family atmosphere. Room spacious for 3 of us. Would stay there again. Highly recommend for a... More

We had a quadruple room for 4 nights which was very pleasant and comfortable. The heating was really warm in the middle of winter. It was close to walk to everything ... the Nagasaka gondola and the main restaurant strip, and there's a public onsen a few doors down. Big drying room. Clean and nice hot spring bath.
