We stayed for a week with our three teenage boys and all loved it. The rooms are small but well appointed, freshly renovated and very clean, the breakfast is hearty, is within short walk of a large ski lift and is wonderfully run by hardworking and attentive staff with very good English. We would definitely come back!

Cosy, clean and comfortable hotel in an unbelievably close distance to the Sakka ski lifts which was perfect for my group as we were beginners. Shuttle buses are just a short walk down the road and they take you everywhere around Hakuba. Three of us (aged 21-27) stayed in a quad room (2 bunk beds) and everything was fresh and... More

The Luna is a wonderful hotel right across the road from the ski fields, about a 100m walk to the Sakka lifts which are great for beginners and the more advanced skiers. Julian and his wife Tomoko run the hotel discreetly, but are always on hand to assist if needed, and will go that extra mile for you. The rooms... More

We stayed here with young children over New Year. Julian and his wife and staff were helpful however we had problems with the heater in the kids room. A technician was repeatedly called out and but still it didn't work properly and then we were able to move rooms however the heater in the next room could only operate on... More

Thank you very much for your positive review of The Luna Hotel. We are glad you enjoyed our breakfasts which are made by the manager's wife from local produce. The Luna's benefits as you pointed out are it's proximity to Central Snow Sports rental shop next door and closeness to the lifts. Regarding the heater in your children's room. When... More

The Luna Hotel is a real find. It's wholly warm, welcoming, unpretentious, cosy and well located. Lovely simple (western) breakfasts included. 50m walk to a big chair lift. And ski-in on return. Proprietor Julian and his lovely wife are incredibly friendly hosts. Highly recommended skiing accommodation.

We were a family of 5 so had two rooms, over Christmas week. Great little Lodge type hotel. Rooms were very small, but this is the same for most Japanese hotels. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went beyond to assist us in any way they could. Less than 100m to three beginner ski runs which was perfect... More

Stayed at Luna last Feb with two kids 7 & 9. Best location hands down. First day we had to get a bus to Evergreen ski school ( Stop was about 30 metres away), then the remainder of our time we walked across the road to the lift. Super easy. Ski hire is down the street and plenty of restaurants... More

We stay in March and as the end of the season, it was price competitive. While the localization may be good for the chair lift ( only 50 m) to first slope and bus stop to bring you to other station, the place is far out the center. It may take 20-30 minutes down between nice small road but getting... More

My son and I stayed here for a week in March, 2014. It was virtually the end of the ski season and was priced competitively as many other hotels had closed for the season. The staff were all nice and would engage if prompted. The room we had was good other than the overwhelming smell of kerosene, which was used... More

For Hakuba skiing, its a hands down great location, right near the main Sakko lift and cafe / village. If you have small children, its a 100% must to be within walking distance, or you'll age a few years in a few days. Many have to walk up steep hills or bus it, neither good. Brilliant service led by the... More
