The general manager Joe goes out of his way to accommodate anything you need - from recommending and booking restaurants, to shuttling guests to dinner and the slopes. The onsite onsen is amazing and the breakfast is substantial. While the hotel's decor is a little outdated (like everywhere in Hakuba) the facilities are clean and comfortable. The bathroom is tiny... More

This is my second visit to the High Mount in Hakuba and it's a great place to stay for any traveller. The staff are fluent in both Japanese and English making it very easy to find out where to eat and ski also other attractions available, they are friendly and a lot of fun. The Sakka chair at Happoone is... More

The hotel is a little dated as many others in the area, the dinner we had was type of B&B but like a Japanese higher quality than usual. The owner was so kind to let us take the spa after the 9pm closing time, but why close so early ? I was here only for one night, but I believe... More

We stayed here in 2010 and recently returned in 2014. We really enjoyed our stay the first time and not much has changed. It's still very good despite a couple of minor issues. The onsen is sensational and a very welcome experience after a hard day on the slopes. The shuttle service to Sakka is also very efficient and convenient.... More

We went on a family skiing holiday to Hakuba in January 2012 and were very impressed with our stay at the Highmount Hotel . The service was outstanding , everyone was very helpful and friendly. Being at the end of the bus run and a little way out of things is compensated by the services provided - shuttle bus to... More

This was my second stay at Highmount and very glad I did. Joe and his team excelled at making us feel welcome. It is located at the high end of Wadano village, amongst the trees. It's about 1 km from Sakka lift but the hotel takes people down and will pick them up too. It also drops people into town... More

The team who run the High Mount are the friendliest group of people I have ever encounted in a ski resort. They never stopped helping us and always witha smile. We haven't skiied in Japan before but they helped us with tips and suggestions on everything from ski runs to eating out to shopping and even helped with money exchange... More

This is an excellent place to stay. A true family run hotel who were more than helpful, attentive and always went beyond what we expected to ensure we were completely happy. The staff were excellent and offered assistance after I was slightly injured on the slopes. The food was lovely, the rooms were comfortable and the views were breathtaking. The... More

I must say for a first timer in Hakuba, the staff at Highmount Hotel really made our stay a great experience. Both Steve and I stayed at the Highmount for 8 days in mid Feb 2013 and I would highly recommend taking the early bird special with JTB travel. Jo, Saki, Hitoshi worked tirelessly running everyone around in the shuttle buses... More

I just returned to Australia from my trip to Japan. I stayed 12 nights (early march 2013) at the Highmount Hotel and just loved it! Joe and all the staff are incredibly helpful, and nothing was too much to ask. They drop you off at the Sakka lift on happo one and even give you some coins to use in... More
