Just back from a ski trip to Hakuba, and we laughed when reading the review that mentioned that this hotel was reminiscent of "The Shining" as that is exactly the reference my partner made when we arrived. We stayed here for just one night at the end of the week, after moving from our apartment closer to the ski fields... More

Great hotel that is near enough to the train station. The staff has limited command of English, but they are enthusiastic to help as much as possible. Rooms with the mountain view are great - you can open the windows in the morning and admire (and photograph) the scenery.

I love the fact that the view from my hotel room was splendid! The staffs were super awesome and friendly and helpful. They really helped me to find ways on how I was able to go to my destinations. The shuttle service was punctual. Breakfast was good with varieties of food served. The only downside is that was hoping if... More

This is the not-so-psycho version of that hotel where the janitors were too lazy to clean the blood pools in the elevators. Yes, it's a spot lost in the 70's And yes, it might have a kinda spooky atmosphere. But you know what? Every person should live that moment where it's dressed with a samurai-like pijama while he is drinking... More

This hotel is very good choice in terms of location, affordability, cleanliness and service. Not suitable for pursuers of luxury or gourmet lovers. The hotel does not look very attractive on the outside but inside its more than OK. Rooms are renovated and clean, all the standard amenities are provided. Heating units are powerful, individually controlled. Free hotel parking place... More

Stayed at hakuba highland hotel for my 5 days ski trip. Pros: very friendly staff, excellent service, onsen with a panorama/arguably best view of the Japanese alps, buffets breakfast and dinners. Cons: room is slightly old (although they are kept very cleaned); location is rather (not an issue if you are only there to ski as there are daily shuttle... More

For the price paid this was good value. had it been more expensive the review wouldn't be as positive. The negatives: - Buffet items during dinner were cold (there are better ways to keep hot food hot at buffets) - Buffet items for breakfast were obvious items used for dinner the night before. - Smoking room on the way from... I'm not giving this 5 stars for luxury but for overall GREAT experience. Nothing negative to say about my stay... VERY friendly and helpful staff. Quick taxi ride to train and bus station, easy shuttle to Hakuba-One and other mountains, excellent breakfast and plenty of it, wonderful views from the dining room, ski rental shop across the way, and -oh...
