This hotel is located in the more traditional part of Hakuba. Guests were mainly Japanese so for our Aussie family, this was a great way of experiencing a bit of the culture on our ski trip. Onsen was fabulous, even the teenagers couldn't wait to soak in the onsen after a day of skiing. The Hotel is a bit tired... More

Very Japanese hotel outside of town. Unbelievable onsen (even the teens 12.13 and 15) got clothes off every night and got in.....great experience staff very friendly but not much English spoken. Its out of town so you will need taxis sometimes. But they do run an "on demand" shuttle in the morning to go to the slopes, just ask the... More

Did not stay at this hotel, but was recommended their onsen by our hotel manger. It did not disappoint. A great experience, Onsen in open sky or inside, sauna, amenities available, (shampoo, after shampoo, soap, cream, hair dryer). Bring a towel and face wash. Do not expect a lot if sign in English, it is very Japanese,(we are in Japan... More

The hotel is old but they renovated the room. Stayed in a mountain view room with daily buffet breakfast and dinner and love it. Paid 17,000 JPY per night for 2 guests. If you didn't buy meals when you book, they sold it at 600 JPY for breakfast and 1,500 JPY for dinner per person which is very low for... More

Stayed 2 nights with the family. Good location for sightseeing around Hakuba during summer. Rooms and interior nice, clean, recently renovated. Buffet has a range of Japanese and Western foods. Staff are friendly. Free WiFi.

We had stayed there on the weekend of March. We arrived there early morning (7AM) and the hotel was already started and the staff gave us ski tickets (IC card) which were included in the hotel package at the front desk. The rental ski sets could be got at the ski shop which is located at the hotel parking. The... More

I liked this hotel, esp. if you are doing a few days stay for skiing - Great bath, outside with mountain view - Flexible service, esp. picking up/giving a lift to/from ski slopes - Functional room - Breakfast/dinner buffet is decent. Can try a lot of different things, covers both western and Japanese. Despite it's buffet, it was good quality... More

The Hakuba Valley is a series of Mountains set around a small town with a train station. Hakuba Highland Hotel (HHH) is set at the top of a small hill, less than 10 minute walk from the town and station. The courteous staff at this hotel have great English, some are quite modest about how well they speak other languages.... More

Stayed here for 8 nights with breakfast. Found it to be great value. Breakfast was great with lots of choice and we also had dinner a few nights too. Lots of Japanese people at the hotel which I loved and we felt like the only foriengers most of the time. Caught the shuttle buses to various ski slopes over the... More

Just back from a ski trip to Hakuba, and we laughed when reading the review that mentioned that this hotel was reminiscent of "The Shining" as that is exactly the reference my partner made when we arrived. We stayed here for just one night at the end of the week, after moving from our apartment closer to the ski fields... More
