There are a couple of small ryokan in Hiraizumi, but none can beat the location of this Japanese-style onsen hotel. It is right in the middle of all the sights you come to Hiraizumi to see. I stayed here just one night after sight-seeing in Hiraizumi. The hotel is located right in the middle of the World Heritage site, so walking to the temples was no problem. The room was Western style and quite small, but I got that kind of room because I'm a solo traveler. The Japanese style rooms are probably a lot bigger.... More

I just turned on a rainy night when the town was deep in snow and slush. I booked in with dinner and breakfast. The rooms are a little basic, but given you should be spending your stay at the Unesco heritage sites, the surrounding area (we'd recommend a daytrip to Geibikei gorge) or in the excellent on site onsen, so what.
