Alternative stay if you do not want to stay in the village. Transport provided, just around 10mins drive from Shirakawa Go, the staff slow down driving speed to let us have the bird's eye view of the Gassho Zukuri village. Dinner was simple but serve in nice presentation, and taste good. From check in to check out, each staff was... More

My family and I stayed at the Toyota Shirakawa Eco-Institute for a night. The hotel arranged a free shuttle to pick us up from the Shirakawa-go bus interchange after we arrived via highway bus. The resort itself was about 10 minutes by car behind the mountains above Shirakawa-go. The village is not visible from the resort. In front of the... More

I stayed there for one night with a friend in early July. We drove here after a day sightseeing through the Shirakawago village. It was a short drive up the mountain from the village and there was plenty of parking on site. We had booked a western style twin room with bathroom. This must be the only available western style... We arrived Shirakawago bus station before checkin time but hotel staff already at the bus station waiting for us to collect our luggage. We visited the village without holding our luggage and called then back to pick up after we finished visiting. The only worst part is hotel never help to heat up our room before we checkin that make... More

The institute is quite some distance from the village and at considerable elevation, one needs transportation to get to/from it. By pre-arrangement, I was met at the Shirakawago bus stop to be driven up to the institute. Transportation is available to/from village as needed. My room was spacious with very good amenities. The front desk staff were excellent. The restaurant... More

Stayed on January 2nd, surprisingly full of guests at this place. We arrived relatively late time to check-in- going uphill in the snow without any outside light /ramp was not easy to find this place... (plus, a bit too scary to drive the condition of narrow dual lanes covered with heavy snow and hilly). But once we got in, the... More

Located in the mountains, tucked away from the tourist packed Shirakawago, this hotel offered a refreshing experience to our Japan trip. It was snowing when we stayed here in April, providing a scenary which was in stark contrast to that in Shrakwago. The hotel had an interesting architecture and the nature guide in the morning was a pleasant experience. And... More
