It was with a bit of luck that we stumbled upon Hotel Futaba, after booking our tickets to attend the Fuji Rock Festival. Prices were a little on the pricey side, but with accommodation quickly running out, we took the only room available, a tatami mat room, with a private bath and inclusive of breakfast and dinner. Looking back at... More

In Echigo Yuzawa town, close to the mountain side and close to the station (walking distance 10 mins). Maybe the lobby is not giving a great impression of the place and the 80's looking surrounding and game machines might not be the most usual sight for westerners, but be aware that you have left Tokyo, and this is real Japan.... What a stay wow! We landed in Japan first time, on the express into tokyo station, fast train up yazikowa And within 4 hours we were in a winter wonderland. Omg the snow, metres deep. You need a taxi to the hotel if you have any sort of luggage, it's a 25min walk but there's a hill, a slippery hill... More

we needed a place to have as a base whilst attending fuji rock..we actually camped for a few nights but booked one night in the middle at the onsen so that we could get a few good hours sleep and also escape the camping ground for a day to recharge, relax, have a proper shower and get all fresh again!... My sister and I stayed at the Japanese style twin room with breakfast and dinner included. The room was spacious and had all that we could ask for; a dressing corner, a small alcove (tokonoma) which made the room feel more zen, clean yutakas everyday and room was well heated. The staff were very helpful and friendly; it was Japanese... More

Visited Hotel Futaba on a skiing trip to Kagura. Stayed in a traditional tatami room which was very pleasant, but the crowning feature was the wooden bathtub with windows that folded open to provide spectacular views of the snow covered mountains - wonderful. The Onsen was great and well maintained with inside and outside baths. Breakfast was excellent with a... More

Great hot springs (inside and outside) with great views and there are so many - they even swap the women's and men's baths once a day so everyone can experience even more! Great service, really good dinner course, nice buffet breakfast and decent Japanese style rooms. It's a huge hotel that's a convenient 5-10 minute walk from the station. A... More

If you want a totally Japanese experience from your stay to your food, Hotel Futaba should be your choice. Some of the rooms comes with both western beds and tatami futons but both are very comfortable. Some rooms also have private onsens but the public onsens are wonderful and free for the hotel guests. We highly recommend taking the dinner... More

We just got back from 4 nights in a tatami room. The hotel and room is rather old but the service quality is excellent and the baths are great. My son loved it. Location wise is rather close to Kogen and a short ride on the shuttle bus next door to Naspa and Gala.

We stayed 3 nights in a tatami room that had a balcony, seating area with mini fridges, hot water maker, bar sink, and a great outdoor urn hot spring in our room's outdoor bath. It's great to be able to use it anytime of the day especially since we were jet lagged a bit. Breakfast was awesome! There were so... More
