I went with my family of 2 teenagers and friends and we took the package that included the shinkasen. The room is very Japanese style with tatami mats but the experience was great. Hotel even had a humudifier which was excellent for winter. Must try out the onsen - they have 2 but I preferred the one in the Annex...
