Excellent customer service, plenty of variety for breakfast and plenty of food, rooms very clean, cosy, great views and comfortable, great facilities, wifi 24/7, the landlady and her staff were very friendly and very helpful with information about things to do in and around town, restaurants, places to eat, transport services etc. I stayed early January 2014 for 5 nights... We stayed one night in an en-suite room which was basic, but clean and perfectly adequate, if a little dated. There are several rooms which are not en-suite and other guests had to march along landings (or even downstairs) to use the bathroom. As others have said, the proprietors were not unpleasant, but really have no concept of customer care.... More

Just back, from Oakfield Lodge, Marple. We had visited the nearby Carver Theatre to see a great amateur dramatics performance of an Ayckbourn Play. The icing on the cake being a stay at the nearby Oakfield Lodge, where we shared a family room with our teenage children. There were lovely views from our room over the countryside. We all enjoyed... when you pay £25.99 for a room with continental breakfast your expectations will be low but I cnnot speak highly enough of Lorraine and Spencer who go far beyond the level of customer service you expect-the room is spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom immaculately clean. Snd the continental breakfast is more than sufficient-well done

As a business traveler my company usually book me into a travel lodge type hotel which are OK and functional but lacking in personality or service, so to stay at family run Oakfield was a joy, due to the nature of my work I checked in early, went out to work at 6pm back at 1am then out again at... Stayed here for one night in September 2013. Good sized room (3) with great views. Very clean if somewhat outdated....furniture from the 1940s or so! . Staircase a great feature in the centre of this nice old house which has lots of potential. Service is very basic with not a lot of customer care going on. Greeted at breakfast by... More

having just returned from a 3 night stay, we have nothing but praise for this guest house, the rooms that we stayed in ( standard first night then ensuite for the next 2 ) were spacious, clean , warm and inviting! The breakfast on all 3 day was superb. The staff were all very very helpful, friendly and polite, nothing... More

The room was great, this place has so much potential shame about the service, we gave them a time for breakfast as they asked us kindly what time. The following morning came down for breakfast no one came other people left without a breakfast. We called reception on our mobile as the place looked closed, the lady answered oh yes... More

Stayed in Room 1 (three windows) for one night and it was a thoroughly enjoyable and comfortable stay. Firstly the hotel is very very clean. Room was very spacious and the bed was particularly comfortable. Didn't feel like you were in a hotel but in a particularly nice room in a big house. Very convenient for train station into Manchester... More
