Stayed 3 nights whish it was longer. We were given a room western Japanese mix with its own private onsen on the balcony. It was fantastic as was the room. Everything was new and everything controlled electronically including the toilet which was amazing you almost needed a licence to operate it. Lid and seat opened upon entry and lights came... More

We visited the area primarily to visit the snow monkey park. Knowing about the onsens in the area we wanted to incorporate that into our stay too. Also, we were on our honeymoon and although we were more economic in other Japanese cities, we wanted to upgrade to something a little more romantic during this part of our trip. The... More

Everyone on staff was very very friendly & helpful, making us feel like family. Accommodations were very comfortable & reasonable for all of the amenities included. Breakfasts & dinners were excellent. This was my first experience at an onsen & having the onsen on the property available at your leisure is priceless. Short distance from Nagano, & very close to... This is the 3rd time we stayed at Biyu and we are sure this will not be our last. Location is excellent being only 200 m from the train station and yet far enough not to be disturbed by the noise. Our room is a recently renovated suite with a private onsen on the balcony. While the room is called... More

My wife and I stayed 2 nights end of January and very much enjoyed the Ryokan experience. On arrival we were taken to the snow monkey park which was fantastic and a must see. The rooms are very good and give you a great feel of the traditional Japanese style inn. The onset was excellent and there are public onsens... More

This is my first experience staying at a ryokan after which I'd preferred ryokan over western style hotel if I were to visit Japan again. This is a nice ryokan with very friendly and helpful staff that does: - pick up from rain station though it's only a 5 minutes walk - drive to close by places of interest -... More

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the Japanese breakfasts and dinners. Positives: - quick pick up from train station when we called upon arrival - the complimentary shuttle to/from monkey park and the train station - the public onsen in the ryokan was good - the waitress who served us for all our meals was very helpful and cheerful -... I stayed at Ryokan Biyu No Yado for 5 nights in early January, 2016. It's a very nice multi-story hotel in central Yudanaka, with traditional Japanese rooms. It is 5 minutes to Yudanaka train station, 15 minutes to the snow monkeys and about 45 to the ski resorts. The owner is around a lot and is very proud of the... More

For a seasoned traveller, but a novice when it comes to Japan, choosing a traditional hotel (ryokan) for a mountain break in our trip to Tokyo was bewildering to say the least. Many of the hotel websites are difficult to navigate, translation laden and non-responsive. Here's a tip, save yourself the bother and head to the delightful Ryokan Biyunoyadat. It... More

Highly recommend super friendly staff and great family atmosphere for exploring the Shiga Kogen area. The Onsen is in particular very special As it is the real thing. We would love to stay again. The staff constantly went out their way to assist us and engage - we were so impressed we extended out stay and will now stay at... More
