I cannot say enough nice things about the staff here. All were exceedingly friendly and accommodating. The vast majority of the staff spoke some English. Even those that did not were helpful in miming out what we were supposed to do. The owner's wife, Yuki, was an amazing hostess. One evening we were there, there was a taiko drumming, lion... More

Ryokan Biyunoyado is a 5 star ryokan with a dedication to ensuring guests enjoy a great experience. Our group had DB&B and the food for both meals was of a very high quality. Dinners were exceptional. There are many attractions in the area, the best known being the famous snow monkeys. The local people are very friendly and enough English... More

i have stayed at many ryokan before and have to say that I don't usually enjoy them. I really enjoyed this place though. Staff:,charming and helpful. Talkative in an unobtrusive manner. Clearly comfortable with non-Japanese guests which is a big plus. Room: I had a great sleep here on a futon. The hotel is well-made so the rooms are quiet.... More

We stayed in this lovely Japanese style hotel with our JTB group. Accomodation includes a Japanese dinner and breakfast. Our room was very spacious covered with the traditional tatami mats merging the traditional with the modern. There is a large low slung table with 2 floor chairs and also a small round table with 2 arm chairs. This area is... More

We booked through travel agent so we had no idea where we would be staying, but we were delighted to stay and experience the traditional ryokan and onsens. The beds (futons) were surprisingly comfortable and we slept like logs both nights. I'm a tall man and there was plenty of space. The onsens were amazing, we want one at home!... More

4 of my friends and myself will never forget this wonderfull experience of traditional Japanese accommodation and meals at the Ryokan Biyunoyado. We started the day to visit the Snow Monkey Park followed by Sake tasting at the local Sake brewery and at the Ryokan Biyunoyado we learn how to make soba. We had our own soba creation for dinner... The hotel staff were very helpful & friendly and ferried us around. We visited the snow monkey park which was great fun. It's about 25-30 minutes to walk from the car park to the park entrance. The food in the hotel was excellent and a less challenging Japanese meal than some of the others we tried but it was still... More

My friend Jacky and I will never forget our wonderful albeit far too short stay at the fantastic ryokan-style hotel Issano Komichi Biyunoyado with itsfabulous views across the Japanese Alps. It was our first ryokan stay in Japan. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and especially Uasa and Kaori deserve an extra special mention. Once we... More
