We booked through travel agent so we had no idea where we would be staying, but we were delighted to stay and experience the traditional ryokan and onsens. The beds (futons) were surprisingly comfortable and we slept like logs both nights. I'm a tall man and there was plenty of space. The onsens were amazing, we want one at home!... More

4 of my friends and myself will never forget this wonderfull experience of traditional Japanese accommodation and meals at the Ryokan Biyunoyado. We started the day to visit the Snow Monkey Park followed by Sake tasting at the local Sake brewery and at the Ryokan Biyunoyado we learn how to make soba. We had our own soba creation for dinner... The hotel staff were very helpful & friendly and ferried us around. We visited the snow monkey park which was great fun. It's about 25-30 minutes to walk from the car park to the park entrance. The food in the hotel was excellent and a less challenging Japanese meal than some of the others we tried but it was still... More

My friend Jacky and I will never forget our wonderful albeit far too short stay at the fantastic ryokan-style hotel Issano Komichi Biyunoyado with itsfabulous views across the Japanese Alps. It was our first ryokan stay in Japan. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and especially Uasa and Kaori deserve an extra special mention. Once we... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Yudanaka View Ryokan (Biyu no Yado). We were warmly welcomed and introduced to the customs of a traditional Japanese inn. The indoor and outdoor onsen at the hotel are very relaxing. The Japanese dinner consists of a large variety of Japanese dishes and is a great experience in itself. The service is excellent... More

From the get go it was a great 3 days and a very good introduction to ryokan life style as we trip through the Japanese alps. Excellent room awash with facilities. A toilet straight out of a science fiction emperors throne room. Views through to the snow capped Alps. Food was exquisite and activities aplenty. Snow monkeys in performance mode,... More

Our stay at Ryokan Biyunoyado was like a fantasy. Great hospitality, service with smiles, and warm farewells. Accommodations are great and Onsen is top notch with indoor and out door. They had a Tyco and Lion Dance performance in the lobby which was an added bonus.
