There are positives and negatives (just like any place). The positives outweigh the negatives plenty here. My wife and I went during the Chinese New Year break. The location is great if you are a skier - the lifts are right there and there was a lot of space/few people on the slopes (Okushiga is skiers only, no boarders, so... More

We recently stayed at the Okushiga Kogen Hotel and for the first time in many years had a wonderful experience. Under the gracious hand of the new owners this winter we enjoyed a welcoming atmosphere, wonderful French Cuisine for dinner and delicious breakfast buffet. There is also a Japanese dining room. The international staff made every effort to make our... More

I will start by saying that this place is entirely functional and clean, and it does have Ski In Ski Out going for it, but for $450 (AUD) per night (especially when the place is empty!) I expect a bit more than clean and functional!! Based on the number of good reviews on Tripadvisor (I have no idea how this... More

I wanted to let you know that the hotel has recently changed ownership and we are commited to the upgrade of our charming hotel. We have two new restaurants - one French, another Japanese - that offer delicious menus conceived... More

Just returned from spending a week skiing at Shiga Kogen ski area and staying at this hotel. The ski area is great, wide, groomed runs with very few people to share the wonderful snow. However this is a popular resort for the Japanese and it is not catering for tourists who like some après ski life. Our hotel is quite... More

I have stayed for five days now, and the skiing has been great. The hotel is at the end of the shiga kogan resort, and has 5 'skier only' chair lifts. The resort itself is ski-in ski-out but is isolated in so far as dining options for dinner is either a set menu at the hotel or a short walk... More

A friend and I escaped our families and work for a week skiing in January this year and stayed at Okushiga Kogen Hotel. We had a wonderful time with great snow, the slopes to ourselves, plenty of good venues to eat and some adventures to be had off piste as well.Truly recommend this place and the friendly staff at Okushiga... We stayed here last ski season for 5 nights and are booked here for the same period this year. Yes as previously mentioned Okushiga is a bit issolated from any village. However, if it is the skiing you're after this place is great (no boarders on this part of Shiga-Kogen), with all the rest of Shiga-Kogen accessible either by bus... More

After trawling the internet on places to stay in Shiga Kogen (21 different areas) we decided to stay at Okushiga Kogen Hotel. We wanted something nice. Our other options included the Grand Phenix (bit too expensive) or the Prince Hotel (didn't seem to get good reviews). So we stayed here. The hotel is very nice. We stayed in a superior... More

Okushiga-Kogen hotel was just as we had expected from the web-site which is always a bonus. Rooms spotless, with windows you can open, love the fresh mountain air!!Food was delicious in the hotel, try the French restaurant for a real treat. Ski hire was easy, some staff speak English & were extremely hospitable. Onsen a must! Wonderful after a day skiing.... More
