Just like other first time travellers/skiers to Shiga Kogen, I spent a lot of time studying reviews and had to decide which town I should stay around Shiga Kogen area. I decided to stay in Ichinose, which is luckily a good choice for me and ideally situated in the middle of the mountain range of Shiga Kogen. Prince West Wing... More

6 friends stayed here in February. The welcome was warm, the rooms were very satisfactory - we had Japanese style rooms which all came with a toilet, but no shower. The prices are very reasonable. There was a ground floor onsen/ bath, which was usually not too busy, and was quite sufficient. The rooms were quite large, with good views... More

Arrived at 11:30 pm after a nightmare 50-hour (yes, 50) journey from Tokyo through Central Japan's worst snowstorms in 120 years, apparently. Staff were so welcoming that all troubles were immediately forgotten - they even opened up the convenience store on the ground floor so that we could get something to eat. And Yuichi had the best English of anyone... More

Just got back from Villa Ichinose in Shiga Kogen. We are a family of 4, and they gave us a 2 room Japanese style apartment. We were the only guests there during the week. It's a 3m walk to the slopes in spring although it looks like you can ski in and probably out in Winter. Visited the snow monkeys... More

Really loved Villa Ichinose. Terrific ambience amongst the visitors, who came from all parts of the world. Cannot understate how helpful and friendly Yuichi and his staff are. Likewise, can't understate how good the location is - ideal for the Nagano express bus and the slopes, and pretty much ski in, ski out (takes a little bit of self-propulsion to... More

this is a great, clean, easy to stay in place with enough creature comforts to make a ski trip easy. my wife and i stayed there in a tatami room in rm 303. the room was huge, and had an ensuite toilet and handbasin. There is also an excellent bath/ofururo downstairs which is very clean and a great way to... More

I stayed 6N at the villa, booked directly via the shiga kogen website. Prior to arrivingn, from changing dates to helping me to find out about local bus and overnight bus to Osaka to ski pass and rental to translating strange japanese email received, the manager Yuichi Sato, a remarkably friendly and helpful man was always happy to help. My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in Feb 2012 for our ski trip in Shiga Kogen. The hotel is perfectly located in Ichinose - The bus stop for the Nagano Express Bus, the bus from Yudanaka Station, and the Shiga Kogen Village bus is less than 20m from its doorstep. - On its ground floor is one of... Ichinose is an ideal base to explore Shigakogen. Central w easy access to a variety of terrain. In researching places to stay, there were not many English reviews and it appeared that buffet dining WS the norm. I have to admit that I chose Villa Ichinose because there was one English review and it appeared to have a la carte... More

Just back from Shiga Kogen, Nagano after a short 3 days stay at Ichinose. Must say that I really missed the food provided at Villa Ichinose. It was sumptuous and what can I say... GOOD! How good? So good that even people who are not staying at the hotel came to eat there. Villa Ichinose, like many other small scale... More
