Our stay at Aburaya Tosen was nothing short of perfect. The young lady that greeted us at the hotel spoke very good English, and was very helpful showing us to our room and explaining the different accommodations of our room and hotel. She even prepared hot tea for us when we entered our room! The room itself was beautiful, with... More

We loved our stay here. A very quiet little town. We were met at the railway station which was amazing as we hadn't set an arrival time. The staff were genuinely friendly and happy. We chose the Japanese style room. If I ever get back there I would go for the western style. Sleeping on the floor with dreadful pillows... More

We stayed here for two nights and we loved it. We stayed in a room without a private Onsen. The room was spacious and while traditional had a modern touch. The room had two chairs which are the most comfortable I have ever sat in, we would just sit and watch the river while enjoying a gin and tonic and... More

We loved our stay at the Aburaya Tosen. We used it as a staging area for the Snow Monkey park and touring around Nagana Prefecture. It's an updated, modern version of the classic Japanese experience; Great for gringos! The town, on the other hand, is a disappointment. Kind of sleepy, a bit shabby and not much to do. From the... We stayed this inn for 2 nights, which allowed us use the lounge where internet, drinks were available. Hot Spring was wide and well equiped and there is Spa on 7th floor as well. Breakfast is buffet style and it has proper coffee. Dinner is in the private room and using Nagano specialities like 'shinano-Gyu' beef, and it was great.... More

Ahh...I hate to be a snob. But when one is paying a hand and leg for an experience, I really want the experience to be quite special. There was nothing "bad" about the Ryokan. It had one onsen on the top floor with an enjoyable view of the town. Room was typical Traditional Japanese Room. with a view of the... More

We went to Yudanaka as a base for the snow monkey park visit. The Yudanaka train station staff sweetly assists the arriving tourists , and taxi drivers materialize out of nowhere. Hotel Aburaya is actually a short walking distance from the train station, just across the bridge. We arrived to a deserted lobby ; turned out it was before check-in... More

This was our first stay at an ryokan & the experience was wonderful!! The room was quite large with a private onsen. The water comes from the hot springs below the hotel & you are able to adjust the temperature with the addition of cold water. We came to experience the Japanese ryokan and of course to see the "snow... More

We loved the ryokan. We stayed in a room with private Onsen and really enjoy a private onzen bath from the steam coming from below the hotel itself. The room is spacious and have a great combination of modern and traditional. The veranda with a nice sofa was great to observe the view with the small mountain stream passing by.... More

I was there to see the snow monkeys (utterly brilliant experience in its own right) so I really only needed one night in Yudanaka. If I had known how much I would love this onsen, I would have booked a week. Right from the start I was treated extraordinarily well. It transpired I had made a mistake in my booking... More
