This is the closest hotel to the entrance of the trail, just about 1 block. Nice hotel, friendly and attentive staff. We called from Tokyo before arrival and they picked us up from the train station, 5 min ride to hotel. We do not eat much Japanese food so we brought food and champagne with us that we ate at... This is one of the longest commute we had in Japan, I think it took us approximately 6 hours to get from Kyoto to Yudanaka but it is well worth the time and effort. The easiest way to get to Yudanaka from Nagano Train station is to take the Nagano Dentetsu, which is located on the other side of the... More

This is not only a convenient place to see the snow monkey park, but also a nice experience for those not having been exposed yet to the traditional way of ryokan. Hotel: this is a well maintained hotel with nice decoration, including intersting paintings. The indoor garden is beautiful and the onsen is a must. Be aware that the little... More

This hotel and the experiences it offered were a highlight of our holiday to Japan. The hotel offers an upmarket experience of staying in a traditional Japanese room, using indoor and outdoor onsens and eating some very creative Japanese food. Add that it was snowing and our room looked out over snow covered fir trees. Oh, and add that it... More

If you can possible visit this hotel when you go to see the Snow Monkeys then you are in for a treat! Very comfortable rooms in a beautiful hotel. The quality of the food in the restaurant is exception with substitutions readily offered. That staff are very friendly and helpful and the location is ideal as the walking trail to... More

If you can manage to reach the Yudanaka train station (which is not so easy if you don't know how to get around Japan), the experience of staying at the hotel is wonderful. The hotel picks you up at the train station and takes excellent care of you during your stay. They will store your luggage or shuttle you to... More

This is a wonderful onsen within easy walking distance from Snow Monkey Park. It backs onto the bush and is well finished and tranquil. The rooms are spacious, well appointed in Japanese style and well finished in timber and natural products. The spas are wonderfully set out with both indoor and outdoor pools fed from very hot springs. We stayed... More

This is a beautiful place to stay, the staff are wonderful (they even have a special bus to take you to and from the station), the onsen are bliss, and all only a 30 minute walk to the monkeys. We stayed one night having travelled in from kyoto, and then left our luggage while we went to the monkey park... More

I came to this area to see the Snow Monkeys, and stayed at a hotel in nearby Yudanaka. I wish that instead I had stayed here at the Kanbayashi Hotel instead as it is right at the trail-head of the Snow Monkey park, and as it looked like a much better option. I stopped in when we came out of... More

Just returned from an extremely arduous trip to see the snow monkeys near Nagano,Japan. I was unlucky enough to go during the worst snow storm in 30 years which blocked the bullet train and took 14 hours for the normal 90 minute trip. Through the kindness of strangers on the train and SIM card, I contacted the hotel and they... More
