This hotel was top notch. I can’t say enough positive things about this hotel. I see people referencing the price, but you truly do get what you pay for. My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night so we could experience both the Onsen and the Snow Monkey park. This hotel is the closest hotel to the Monkey Park... More

We booked this Ryokan but did not stay in this hotel due to family emergency. The ryokan is very understanding on our last minute cancellation and was very kind to us. We are grateful to their kindness and definitely if we have chance, we will come back and stay here again.

I choose this Ryokan because it's easy access to Jigokudani Monkey Park. It located in Kanbayashi Onsen Area and took us (me, my wife and 3 kids) only 30 min to walk to the park. The price is expensive but that because it is super luxury. The hotel have a private dinner room and they served Kaiseki-style for both dinner... More

The hotel is a little bit old fashioned and a little bit gimmicky (there's a souvenir shop) but the rooms (Japanese style) are lovely. We came here to visit the monkey park, but it was closed due to the monkeys doing monkey business elsewhere in the area, but after a wander around the area and an hour in the onsen... More

This hotel is a little gem up in the mountains. The staff were really friendly. The traditional rooms were really great. We reserved the private onsen which was wonderful. We had the traditional Japanese breakfast which was amazing. In the evening we were driven into town for a traditional dinner at a local restaurant which was an amazing experience in... More

Considering the high price and the rave reviews, I had high expectations of Kanbayashi Hotel Senjukaku. After actually staying there, I have mixed feelings about the place. First the pro's: the hotel looks beautiful and it's beautifully located. This isn't the kind of place that requires creative photography to right the wrongs; it's gorgeous as it is. It's spacious and... More

We loved this hotel and this was our first stop on a three week long journey around Japan. We booked the Japanese room which was really comfortable and different from what we have previously experienced. Food was great, really friendly staff and the location was great to visit the snowmonkeys.

There are 6 of us. When we arrive, staff came out to help us with our luggages. Park our car and serve us traditional tea and sweet to greet us. The person checking us in speak good English which we have no problem in understanding. We were directed to our rooms and explain clearly to us where we are, where... More

This should be one of those high end ryokan, maybe it's low season, that's how I can afford it. For ¥48,000/n. Room is big and come with the mountain view, and 2 meals included. The hotel compound is the very beautiful and the onsen is big and nice and most of the time I have it all to myself. There... More

You come here for the access to the monkey park, which is just as great as everyone says. But the hotel itself is a worthy destination. For westerners looking for a Japanese experience without going too far off the edge, this is perfect. The hot spring bath is beautiful, don't miss the outside in the snow. The futons on tatami...
