We recently stayed at Villa Alpen and really enjoyed our stay. The hospitality was fantastic, the captain and his team are more than happy to help where they can. The food was great, we had no complaints at all. The location was fantastic for ski-ing but as you will read there is no night life in the area but after... More

Whilst we cannot comment on reviews about the positive atmosphere food and service at Villa Alpen we can say that we were somewhat shocked and disappointed about the small shabby room that we were given-japanese with bathroom and toilet. The room represented poor value for money and the hotel appearance was generally run down. There was virtually no room for two... More

Thanks to Captain and his family for the fanstic holiday in Shiga Kogen. From day one they took care of us by selecting the ski equipment and advising on where to go and what to do. Great winter atmosphere during lunch and in the common living room by the fireplace!

Villa Alpen never promised to be the best hotel. they have a small ski rental collection, hence it would be helpful if u message captain Nobuo of ur size before arrival. this hotel is a family business, started by Captain Nobuo's father... before contacting villa Alpen directly, I have tried various booking sites like Agoda.com. No rooms available. my advise... More

Can't even explain how wonderful these people are. The captain is the kindest host we have met so far, always concerned that we are happy and regaling us with stories. His son Ken is very kind and a good ski teacher as well. Though it is a smaller hotel the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming and we really enjoyed... More

The room is small and smelled like molds. There was a heater in the room that was pretty much useless because we couldn't adjust the temperature. The room was basically cold. It has a small toilet and a sink. There is no shower or bathroom in the room or on the floor we stayed in (which they don't specify on... More

We stayed with this friendly family villa for 3 nights during our stay in Shiga Kogen. Captain (that's how we called the owner) and his son Ken are always here to help. They are excellent in English and therefore no problem at all with communications. And the villa has its own gear shop which you can rent the ski /... More
