I have written some fairly scathing reviews recently so it's nice to be back on a positive page. The Rose and Crown is the archetypal Cotswold village pub but unlike many of their brethren they deliver exactly what you want. Hungry? Tick - Great food served with beef from their own farm. Thirsty? Tick - a great selection of perfectly... More

Only went for drinks to meet up with a 'ghost group' to go to Woodchester Mansion but staff & regulars were lovely & friendly and it felt a cosy pub with a large restaurant at the back. The food we saw coming out looked amazing and we wished we had eaten there too.

We thought we'd try here for lunch after reading the reviews but were quite disappointed in our food. My husband had the recommended 'gourmet' burger but wasn't sure what was special about it apart from presentation. It seemed to be style over substance with greasy onion rings and 11 (yes he counted them) chips. I had the ham and cheese... More

Although we are fairly local we have only just visited the Rose and Crown after walking in Woodchester Park. Having popped in Sunday for a drink and seeing the very good looking Sunday lunches come out, with yorkshires and cauliflower cheese as standard, we decided to come back for their Thursday Steak and strawberries and cream offer at £15.50. My... More

Popped in for a quick lunch. The beer is kept very well and service excellent. Ploughmans was a winner with locally sourced food and it was delicious. Even had a home-made pork pie! I would thoroughly recommend a trip here. It's a pretty village too and you can watch the gliders taking off from nearby

we were diverted to this pub by the falcon in Wotton Under-Edge where the chef was too ill with tonsilitis to cook lunch. It was a happy diversion to the sister pub (same owner) in the delightful village of Nymphfield. The beer (Cotswold Way from Wickwar Brewery) was excellent and a very reasonable £2.60. My wife and I both ordered... More

...and the service was very friendly. The food is very well presented and the chef definitely knows what he is doing. I had the "recommended" burger with the "famous" chips. I was wary at first but boy it was soo good! The garlic cheesy ciabatta is a colestoral busting delight. Having said that, although the special teriyaki salmon was tasty... More

Great pub, friendly staff and good service. The Sunday roast, the beef was local and tasted great, generous servings. Recommend to all. Worth a visit if just for a drink or something to eat, good menu with variety of choice and the pudding board looked yummy but didn't try any as too full from the roast

I cannot recommend this pub enough, we visited as two couples on a mid week Cotswold break. The service was outstanding and the food was divine (best steak and chips ever !). A lovely atmosphere with traditional fireplace charm.
